January 10, 201313 yr Kelly is to Jones is to Tubberville is to Saban is to Calipari is to etc., etc., etc.
January 10, 201313 yr Author An ND commit changed his mind today and is going to the Gators. Said Kelly's interview had something to do with it. Based on his history I'm going to say he's using this as an easy excuse. This is the kid that was committed to Ohio State but changed his mind when he found out a convicted sex felon was communicating some some OSU recruits. Dad is a Gator grad. January 10, 201313 yr I read a few stories from people saying the interest must be legit because he knew he was already getting an extension and raise. Now he'll get a longer extension & a bigger raise. Any college football coach would be crazy to turn down an interview with Philly. Some had Philly pegged as a Super Bowl Contender this year, so the talent is there.

January 11, 201313 yr I say he doesn't leave ND but his check gets bigger. I'm with you Clyde. I think this is purely a money grab by Kelly. I don't think he has any intention of leaving ND. I hope ND calls his bluff and does not change his contract. I am not an ND or Kelly fan. Kelly is an arrogant jerk IMO. I do hope I am wrong and he goes to the Eagles as that would be bad for both ND and Kelly.

He just took ND to the title game and finished 12-0 in the regular season. He has a blank check to stay in South Bend. The NFL interest is real even if he doesn't take a job this year...
January 11, 201313 yr Whoever said "bitter" before. You aint kiddin. People need to get over it. LOL!
January 11, 201313 yr Whoever said "bitter" before. You aint kiddin. People need to get over it. LOL! Get over what, exactly? Him being a REALLY good football coach? Or him being an ego driven son of a New England politician? Both??? :idunno:

January 11, 201313 yr I have had several conversations w/ coach Kelly over the last six or seven years (though none since before the beginning of this season) and must admit that I was shocked to hear about the Philly interview. I can tell you with 100% certainty that if he took the interview there is a high likelihood that he takes the job. There goes my ticket connection.:madman:

I don't think he is going anywhere though. College coaches more than anyone understand the idea of leverage. He has alot of that now with ND and he appears to me to be using it. While I don't like him, I respect that he has gotten results everywhere he has ever coached. No doubt he can coach - also no doubt you cannot trust him when he says anything.

January 11, 201313 yr BK's "dream job" is his next job. Always. Forever. That's just who he is... Same for the bulk of coaches. However, all their ego's need massaging and they believe greener pastures are out there. I do think it would be funny if a coach at some point was hired and said, "This is not where I want to be. I really have my sites on a bigger position with more money than you can offer. I am just using this as a stepping stone to bigger and better things you cannot give me."
