Some Quick Notes

1)Bolden-Best PG prospect I've seen in NKY in a long time. If Mack was there to check out Bolden I'm sure he left impressed. So smoooooth!

2)Rusthatz-Man he looked tired early and I've never seen that from him. When he's cool and calm he seems to be the best. Still a great player.

3)Schuh-I think this kid is going to be really good and had a nice game last night. 9pts 9rbs for a soph is a good game. Can't wait to see how good he get with some weight room work and experience. My comparison would be Justin Dolleman type player.

4)Fredrick-Kid can flat out shoot. I think his legs got a bit tired also in the 4th qtr but Holmes can do that to you. I expect him to be really good by postseason.

5)Palmer-Man he can defend. He did a great job on Rusthatz and hit a huge 3 late in the 4th.

6)Refs-Overal I thought this crew did a great job. There were some questionable calls but for the most part they let these kids play and show why they are 2 of the top teams in the area....maybe the state.

7)Listerman-Man was he fired up. I love Coach L and it was great to see him back at CCH for the night. I would hope sometime soon they honor him during a Holmes @ CovCath game.

Be a good match-up but Bolden is not at Q. SNIDER's level.....yet and that is no disrespect to Bolden at all because he is a great player and will continue to get even better. I've been around Q for quite a while and seen Bolden since his MS days and he will well on his way, but that's just my opinion. Both are ultra quick with complete games.

 

I've watched Q and obviously he's a stud. My point was that he would have a struggle to guard Bolden one-on-one. I watched a PG from Jeffersonville give Q a hard time this year and Bolden's handle and quickness are better than the J'Ville kid.

 

It would be a lot of fun to watch.

Let's not be unfair to Bo with the JDoellman comparison. The 9th hasn't seen a player with JD's skills and size combo and Bo isn't that type of player. With that said Bo has a chance to be REALLY good.

 

I thought the officiating crew did a really strong job last night. Yes, we can quibble with individual calls but the overall flow of the game and how the officials let the flow develop was top-notch.

 

I've heard some grumblings about travel calls or non-travel calls on Bolden. It's really hard now with how fast these moves and spins are taking place to determine if it's a travel. Why? Before you can call a travel you have to know when the pivot was established. Before you can do that you have to see when the ball was secured after he picked up the dribble. Moving as fast as these players do now it's almost too hard to call so it rarely gets called.

I noticed Ruthsatz (coach) look at the Holmes bench last night and tell someone to "sit down" after they got fired up after call/no call. Anyone know who he was talking to?

If you will remember #14 (Herndon?) was playing really physical D with Ruthsatz. A foul was called on 14 near midcourt and I'm guessing Coach R gave a "it's about time" type of response to the officials. I'm told Coach L stood up and said something about Coach R being out of the box and I'm told at that point Coach R told the "assistant coach of Holmes" to sit down.

 

No big deal. Heat of the moment type thing. Heck, I yelled at an opposing coach once during a game I coached and after the game apologized. It happens. Nothing to it.

I'm assuming it had a lot to do with Coach Booher being warned by one of the same refs in the HC game for being out of the box.

Speaking of Coach L, was talking to him yesterday during the JV game and said to him "They still love you here and treat you like a celebrity, don't they?" (In reference to so many fans stopping by to talk to him.)

 

His response:

 

"Well there's a lot of great people here. I'm lucky to have coached here."

 

I know that's typical Coach L, but just thought it was nice that he still considers a lot of the same people apart of his family, despite being on their biggest rival bench.

I respect Walter and his comments 100%. Having said that, I don't care what words come out of Coach Listerman's mouth, I believe there is no team he enjoys the Bulldogs beating more than Covington Catholic. By the end of his time there, Coach Listerman couldn't tell who was truly his friend and who was stabbing him in the back. Unfortunate really.

I partly agree with my guy History. Guaranteed Coach L enjoys beating CCH the most. Who wouldn't?

 

I disagree with his sentiment that Coach L didn't know who to trust. He knew.
