So that my NCC friends do not think I only am critical of their guy's low post game let me say you are 100% correct. He has no low post game at this time. Just getting by on athleticism and effort. If and when he works on it he'll be a 20 ppg player. No excuses for him to not come back with a strong jump hook and a few other moves next season.

I too had a chance to speak to Coach L prior to the start of the game but that will stay private. He is a gentlemen who I still look up to and admire not only as a coach but more importantly as a Catholic, who lives and practices his faith!

 

I also had a chance to speak to Mrs. Listerman after the game and after we hugged, I ask her one question, was he happy? I am delighted to say her response was yes!

There is no doubt Coach L is valued at Holmes and is well respected by all. The guy has never in my presence said a negative word about the past. If he has hard feelings, you would never know it by talking to him. He, like all coaches, wants to win when they throw the ball up to begin the game. I don't know what went on with him at CCH, but the Bulldogs are happy he is there. He had a really good opportunity to leave for another school this summer and stayed, that should say how happy he is at Holmes. This man has given so much to so many kids through the years in Northern Kentucky, he is deserving to any accolades given.

I have had only one encounter with coach L and that was last year at the 9th region awards dinner. He greeted my son as if he knew him for years and only had kind words to say to him. My son may not remember but I sure do. Any team to have him in their sidelines is truly blessed.

The only way it's intentional is if they also left off the 2004 semi run.

It was a pleasure meeting you too Clyde. It's cool after all this time to put a face on your huge knowledge of the game. Been chasing my tail a bit lately and haven't been able to keep up on BGP like I'd like to. As is somewhat typical for me, I drift in and out here, but truly wish that I could contribute more. It's a little frustrating as B-Ball season is my favorite time of the year. Was overwhelmed when I saw how much has already been posted about the game and thought "Gosh, what can I add that hasn't already been said?"

 

The main thing that sticks with me about this game (and I have about a billion different thoughts in my head) is that even though CCH lost and Holmes is still undefeated, I think that the Colonels (along with the Holy Cross game) played a large roll in making the Bulldogs grow up big time. They were forced to stay focused the entire game, unlike their performance with the Indians. They did themselves no favors mounting a 25 point half time lead and then sorta calling it a night. I have to think that they certainly learned something from that, such as the time to fall asleep is in your bed at night, and not while the game is in progress. They needed every bit of the lessons learned in their last two games before facing Cooper this Friday night. I'm truly not knocking them as I have a ton of respect for what a fine team they have become. I think that they've achieved over and above what most might've expected from them this year, and they are full of surprise talents that are quickly becoming household names. In the Bulldog's rich history, these kids are making quite a name for themselves in classic fashion.

 

Neither HC or CCH have anything to hide their heads about is their losses to the Dogs. They too should've gained a ton of confidence in knowing that they can keep pace with them. The Indian's victory over Brossart seems telling in how fast they've grown recently. I think that it was also a coming out party for the Colonels in showing that they are so much more than Ruthsatz. Anyone following them already knew this, but this was their big stage to display it. I have no doubts that they can keep it close in their upcoming battle with NewCath. I expect that game to be phenomenal.

 

It's painful to know that only 2 of the 3 excellent teams from the 35th will be able to make an appearance in the Regional tourney.

 

With as much talent as there is in the 9th this season it is sad that ultimately only one team will be able to represent us at Rupp. Whoever it is will certainly be war-tested and deserving. We all know who the favs are, and I'd like to act all smart like I've got it figured out, but it is truly too close to call.

B-Ball-Fan is correct in his assessment. These teams are really close. Holmes, HC, CCH, NCC, and Cooper are really close. Holmes has leraned a lot, as probably we have over the last 2 games. On Tuesday, neither team played poorly. There were only 10 turnovers the whole game. That was pretty amazing with how hard these teams played. I always felt that CCH was more than Ruthsatz, and the others really stepped up. The HC game was simply HC taking it to the 'dogs the second half. If that game goes another minute Holmes loses. Booher told me that it's is rare that you play that bad for a half and stiil win. That gave him a lot of teaching points. Holmes is in the driver's seat because we all know these were the 2 most important games for them because of seeding. It is tough that 1 team will be sitting come regional time, but it was the same last year. Holmes can beat you from inside or outside. If they are stroking the 3 like Coston on Tuesday, they will be very difficut to beat. But you can say that with any of them. For the first time all season that I have seen, the'dogs played a complete game on Tuesday. Of the 5 teams, the one that can do that in crunch time games will hoist the 9th region trophy in March and we really have no clue who that will be. HC's tough schedule is really paying off right now. It seems like that 2nd half against Holmes woke them up in a positive way. The first half of that game, they looked very average, if not awful. I always thought if you could survive Holmes spurts you could beat them, Tuesday's game proved a little different for them. They really did not have their 10 point spurt in 40 seconds that they have in their games but were steady and consistent throughout. That game was in doubt until the last couple of minutes. The game tonight will be fun and just as entertaining as Tuesday I think. It will be good to go as a fan and not be nervous watching good basketball.
