Camron Justice

 

Knott County Central sophomore Camron Justice poured in a tournament record 62 points in the Patriots’ 95-93 loss to Cincinnati Roger Bacon in a consolation game of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic on Sunday night.

 

Justice, a 6-foot-2 point guard, said after the game he had no idea he had topped his previous career high (45) by 17 points.

 

“I just got hot,” Justice said. “And I kept trying to get buckets for my team.”

 

Justice was 19 of 29 from the field, including 8 of 11 from three-point range. He hit 16 of 19 free throws.

Justice drilled a three-pointer with :09 left in regulation to tie it 80-80 and send the game to overtime.

 

Camron’s dad and Knott Central assistant coach Raymond Justice was also unaware of his son’s scoring feat. When told after the game that his son had scored 62, Raymond’s response was “No way!

 

Justice’s previous career high was 45 points against Buckhorn in the finals of the WYMT tournament last season.

 

Roger Bacon’s Carlas Jackson had 36 points.
