In what position?

That it's a possibility? If he did, WKU offense could be scary good with the combination Beatty and Petrino.

If so it's a no brainer that Coverdale is the next coach right?

Come on man, we're talking DI football here. Trinity is a nice program and all, but college is all about recruiting...oh wait, nevermind...he'd be perfect.

Everyone says on here he out works everybody.......Just saying....

I heard he's going to Purdue----to take Wolford's place.

I heard about this, shortly after Petrino was hired. Question...would he risk leaving for a boss who most certainly will leave after a couple seasons, then have the future up in the air. If I where him, I would seriously consider this possibility. Great opportunity though. Hope he stays where he is at.

No no no... He is after the Oakland Raiders job guys

This guy went from High School to a major college a few have heard of.

Gerard Anthony "Gerry" Faust (born May 21, 1935) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Notre Dame from 1981 to 1985 and at the University of Akron from 1986 to 1994, compiling a career college football record of 73–79–4. From 1962 to 1980, Faust was the head football coach at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he tallied a mark of 178–23–2 and won four High School Football National Championships.

Is Beatty the "genius" behind Trinity's O, or is it Coverdale? I've always heard it's the latter.

Both had their own offensive philosophies prior to Trinity, Beatty the run and shoot, Cov well, check out a copy of "The Bunch Attack". They joined forces in 2000 and their systems intertwined. It has evolved over the years, incorporating concepts learned from all levels of football. If i had to give it a name it would be a "pro-style-spread".

Coverdale should get a lot of credit for evolving the offense and the play calling (Along with some very gifted assistants who are outstanding teachers of the game), but make no mistake, Beatty sets the tone for the Trinity football program!

As to the thread title, I cannot see Beatty joining the WKU staff. I could be wrong, but at this stage in his life/career, I don't see him pounding the southeast recruiting trail and working the late hours that Petrino will most certainly demand.
