UK players delete twitter accounts

Featured Replies

Perhaps if the players were working on their basketball skills and not on twitter they might have won a few games last week.

That would've been impressive given that they only played two games.....

I think you just have to ignore stuff like that, but I'm not wearing that uniform.

Let's be honest, it comes with the territory. If people want to pretend for one second like UK is the only fan base to ever do this then they are kidding themselves. The people who did it are embarrassing but it happens all over. There are plenty of perks with being a college athlete... I would certainly trade my twitter account for all of them!

Those UK fans (if they really are UK fans) who are doing this kind of crap are complete idiots. The message that is being sent to 17 and 18 year old potential recruits is that UK fans will love you as long as you are winning, and if you're not, well...

These supposed UK fans who are doing this should really be pleased with themselves when the Harrison twins and others either decommit or choose others schools.

Wait for it ...

What a way for the al-Qaeda faction of UK haters to mess over the program. Claim UK fan status and say something horrible.

I'm not saying that 100% of the activity is fifth column but I'll bet alot of it is.

Wait for it ...

Probably UL fans!!!!!!!!!!

And there it is! And it only took until the second page for someone to come out and say it.

I find it extremely funny the incredible blind spot that many Kentucky fans -- reasonable ones included -- have when it comes to facing the reality of the crazies in their midst. I've sat there and watched otherwise reasonable UK fans just bite their tongue or sit stonefaced when one of their 18-percenter brethren says something completely outrageous, stupid, tasteless or outright mean or crude that ends up becoming the face of the fan base in bad times. I don't know how they do it.

And besides, why would Cardinal fans want to do something that the quoted posts suggest? It's far too much fun to watch 'Cat fans bicker amongst themselves in those cases.

So what kind of tweets were you sending WCS? :D:p

It was probably just UL fans.

Could have been. Every fan base has their crazies. (No pun intended)

Maybe so, but it sure seems as though the BBN is the most internet-literate of them.

Probably seems that way cause you're on a KY board and you're in KY

Every fan board has them. I agree UK fans gathering on message boards is bigger, but they exist every where, and only tend to come out when their respected team is performing poorly.

I'll allow for that. However, this is not an isolated incident. I still recall Wildcat fans lighting into would-be Wildcats who ultimately chose other schools on Facebook, leading to the NCAA changing rules about such contact. Kentucky fans have made more national splashes on the 24/7 sports ticker than others in terms of internet craziness.

It is also true that the Commonwealth -- despite its issues in areas such as education, teen pregnancy, smoking and other disappointing lists -- is one of the most wired states in the nation. The way anything and everything related to UK always wins in internet polls on ESPN and other such sites is just further evidence of their extreme lack of restraint in carpet-bombing anything they feel passionate about.

Fortunately for Wildcat fans, we haven't seen the incidents go violent and in-person the way some others have been, which is commendable. Well, except for the two old men who got into the fight at a dialysis clinic during the Final Four in March.
