I just read Willis was ejected in the 3rd quarter.

Aren't they playing in Marshall County this weekend?

Play Henry Clay Thursday and in Marshall Saturday. I think he has to miss both.

What happened there?

dyaste nailed it in the prediction thread:

The match-up will likely center around Derek Willis vs Jackson Davis, two of the top forwards in the state. However, how Lafayette matches up against fellow seniors Trey Rakes and Rusty Troutman will be more important.

I'll stick with the 6th Region though and take Bullitt East to win by 8, with Rusty Troutman leading the way for the Chargers.

Didn't get to make this one, but listened on iHigh. Sounded like the BE radio crew felt like the ejection was uncharacteristic of Willis or the refs were extremely tight.

Willis made a first comment that got him a T and a secondary one that got him the second one. He'll miss the Henry Clay game at Tates Creek and the Hopkinsville game at Marshall County.

The Chargers and Generals were evenly matched up until the closing moments of the second quarter. Then Rusty Troutman went off, he blocked a Lafayette shot then hit a three. He followed that up with a steal and pass to Derek Willis for a vicious dunk.

The second half saw Troutman hit three after three as Bullitt East built a twenty point lead. Then came the Derek Willis ejection, this led to a mine Lafayette run. However, Rusty Troutman kept hitting threes and Trey Rakes scored 9 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to close out an easy victory for the Chargers.

Willis will serve a two game suspension, this puts a damper on top 10 match-ups between Henry Clay and Hopkinsville.

Jackson Davis finished with 19 points scoring evenly through each quarter. Nick Trisko was stifled by the Bullitt East defense and was a non-factor all night.

I don't blame him one bit. I've seen games where the ref's won't call nothing. It's ridiculous

I didn't see this game. However, I have seen a lot of games where bigs get beat up in the post. I'll never forget CCH mauling Justin Doellman from Ryle in either 2003 or 2004.

Poor kid, if he thinks its tough in HS, wait till he gets to college. A UK signee should be able to rise up and act better than that and play tougher instead of crying to refs about it.

I was at the game. He was called for setting a moving screen (and it was a very good call). That was his 3rd foul and a sub checked in for him. As he was leaving, he said something to the ref and earned a technical foul. He followed that up with another comment which got a second technical foul. He picked up a personal and 2 t's in roughly 15 seconds.

Rusty Troutman was the best player on the court tonight. Davis was good but Lafayette seemed like an unorganized team in some ways. Davis was in foul trouble as well. He left in the 2nd quarter with 2 fouls and the lead went from 4-5 to about 16 with him on the bench.

Coaches from Transy, Bellarmine and Campbellsville were all in attendance. I have to think that Scotty Davenport feels like he got a steal in Troutman.

I talked to one head coach after the game and his comment was: "I feel like I watched Mr. Basketball tonight but it wasn't who I thought it would be."

Troutman has always been the best player on the team IMO.

Bellarmine landed a great player. Willis has always had the "upside" but still haven't seen him improve any. Wasn't at the game but I have always said if you are a Division I signee you have 1. a target on your back (bigger for a UK signee) and 2. you have to be ready to get banged around.

This! Rusty did everything last night but sell popcorn. He got assists, steals, blocks, rebounds, took charges, etc. He's their most dangerous player until Willis learns to be more assertive.
