We've got people here in Mason County supporting (via supportive comments in the paper's Comment Line - the little section for people who are too gutless to write a letter to the editor to call in an opinion) a business that hung its American flag upside-down after the election. Sad.

Yes it is sad how people act.

While I disagree with both acts, I offer a different view of flying the flag in that manner that some are taking to heart. The US Code of Laws regarding how to fly the flag when in distress states: The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property. Now, again, I want to stress that I don't agree with whoever flies it that way for the obvious reason, but maybe they view it as they believe the life, liberty and property of US Citizens are in dire danger and distress. I don't expect anyone to agree with that view (I don't), but I know some people really believe this way. In fact, I know one guy that's flying the flag that way for just those reasons. I've tried reasoning with him to no avail. He's entitled to his opinion, so I let it go.

The woman at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a pig in my opinion.

^ Both acts are equally sad.
I don't think equally, but both are sad.

My children, a 10 year old daughter, and twin 7 year old sons, are in DC visiting with my ex's family as they speak. Tomorrow they will visit the tomb and watch the changing of the guard. It's sad they they'll show more respect than the despicable individual, Lindsey Stone.

Yes, it's freedom of speech, as disgusting as it is. I just wonder what the soldier/s buried there, that gave their lives for her freedom to hoist up that middle finger, would say. Absolutely disrespectful and I wouldn't want that person on staff in my organization.

Everyone has the right to be a "butt clown", hell I do it quite regularly on this site.

Poor taste...yea, but not the end of the world.

I agree with you LawnBoy, but there's places where you just don't act that way. Ya gotta remember where you are.

She's probably just attention hungry.
I was just going to say this. It was a "look at me moment", the sign asks for silence and respect, she just wanted to attempt to post something funny online without thinking it could tick people off, as well as not being tasteful. I would usually say by the media drawing attention to people like this is giving them what they want, but I don't think it applies here, as because of the comments against her she took the pjoto down and apologized. But again, if the media just left it alone she would have took it down because of comments from her friends.

Agree.

It was a stupid thing to post and was not in the least bit funny , but is no one willing to accept her apology ? Hey everyone John 8:7 .

Oh, I'm sure she's been forgiven, just not forgotten.
