Severals years ago I went with my sons 6th grade class from Ludlow to Arlington and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I was very proud of how respectful all of the kids were during the Changing of the Guard. I reccommend everyone pay a visit to Arlington if given the opportunity.

I disagree. It is not "his" flag. It is the flag of every American that his fought for our freedom or promoted/helped their fellow citizens. If he wants to create his own personal flag and fly it upside down, then I am okay with it.

I don't know anyone who equates flying the flag upside down with burning it. The two seem quite different. The way the guy did in the example given was quite a statement IMO.

I couldn't disagree more with anything you have ever posted on this site. I normally agree with your posts but this one is way off. The flag belongs to EVERY American citizen. I don't like the flag being burned or flown upside down or whatever but it is what it is. Not in the same ball park as what this idiot did at Arlington. If there is anyway in this country you don't show disrespect or abuse the situation to make your useless political statement, it's Arlington.

I cannot fathom how an American cannot support one's right to protest in the form of burning the US flag.

You have to agree with the fact that it's an emotional occurrence. Do they have the right to protest? Yes. Just like you have to right to pee. But if you take that right and pee on my front porch, you are going to get bloody. Protest? Yes. Protest the government? Yes. Protest by burning something as symbolic as the American Flag and someone is going to get emotional about that.

If it's not illegal because of the location then, yes, it's your right.

If legal, I guess so. You have a right to poop in your hand and rub it in your hair, but I wouldn't advise it. Some rights may be present, but are better not exercised in my opinion.
