Standing in line for Star Wars Episode I (mistake) and The Fellowship of the Ring (INCREDIBLE) were experiences in themselves and for someone like me, who had been looking forward to those movies for years, that was way more interesting than a concert. As for standing in line for an iPhone, yeah, I couldn't care any less, but I do know people who love that sort of stuff and couldn't care one iota about a playoff game. Right, but did you take time away from your family on Thanksgiving or a holiday for this?
November 21, 201213 yr It's all the stores, not the shoppers IMO. Consumers want the best price possible, and the stores take advantage of the situation. Hell, $97 for a 32 inch TV is a deal though.

You don't see the difference b/n waiting in line for an event that will not be repeated v. standing in line for a product that will be available without as much hastle a week or two later?

I see the difference, I just think it's worse to do it for an event. To me (at least), no event is so important that I would ever wait in line for tickets. At the end of the day it's a completely meaningless game.
November 21, 201213 yr I saw where an employee of Target delivered a petition to Target complaining about working on Thanksgiving night. While I hate that she has to do that she DID take the job and has a choice as to her staying there or not. I can't muster a whole lot of angst. If Target feels it's best for them as a company then it's their right to do so. They get to make the rules. Employees get to decide how bad it is. If it is truly that bad, quit. If you can't because you need the gig that's unfortunate but.... It's all about leverage. If Target thought they'd lose enough truly talented, hard-to-replace employees they wouldn't do it. They do not have that concern.

I also just ran up to SAMs for a some Canon Rebel Camera for my wife. Saved a few bills on that too. I'm a sucker for a good deal

November 23, 201213 yr Here's why I don't go shopping on Black Friday: I'm hearing reports of someone at Maysville's Wal-Mart (trying to put this delicately), taking care of bathroom issues #2 style in the electronics section. Sadly, if true, is the second year it's happened.
