The 10th region preview was written by: Randy Parker, gold sunrise, and mcpapa

We may start at the old campus but about mid-January could be at the "NEW GYM".

It would be kinda like history to see who might be the last team to play at the old gym, possibilties as I look at the schedule could be:St. Pat(Jan 4) or Riverside Christian(Jan 5).

I would like to end it with a game against one of our 3 rivals: Bracken County, Augusta, or Pendleton. Yep the old 38th District.

Certainly a fair assessment for a pre-season preview.

 

Question marks abound, and will have to be settled on the hardwood. While our Mustangs have a storied tradition, are extremely well-coached and appear to have a well-rounded and deep lineup this season, with the potential to do great things, in order to be the man, you have to beat the man. While Brossart had led the Campbell County series 8-3 over the past previous eight years, the Camels have won our last four encounters, albeit many in dramatic fashion, but wins nonetheless, and getting back over that hump is our first order of business. Winning the 37th District for the first time since 2007 and a return to the 10th Region Tournament, where we have been absent since 2010 are also priorities with this group.

 

Emerging from the brutally tough 37th District competition is no foregone conclusion for any of the three major contenders. So, until given the opportunity to settle the issue in actual competition and earn a loftier ranking, we will accept the fourth place regional ranking assessed by the evaluators and continue to work hard on a daily basis to be up to the task of playing for district and regional championships.

 

Mason County possesses a stable full of young stud athletes, winners of the 10th Region Freshmen championship last year, who will be throwing the Royals' hats back in the ring before long.

 

Mason Monroe, in my opinion, if flat-out the best guard in the region. Even without a strong supporting cast on paper, he has the ability to carry a team on his shoulders, and will make the players around him better. Until it actually comes to pass, I suspect that the demise of the Pendleton County Wildcats is greatly exaggerated.

Hope you are correct on that last statement but I really dont know where the scoring will come from after Monroe. Then there is the matter of rebounding.

Maybe you are right and the talent pool has dried up somewhat in Falmouth, but I'll believe it when I see it. Monroe is one of my favorite players, and I do think will make his supporting cast better.

Still amazes me what they did in 2010-2011, started season 3-11, then 11-17 thru 28 games and then end up in regional championship game.

 

Obviously the supporting cast has changed, but with Monroe's leadership you never know.
