Certainly a fair assessment for a pre-season preview.

 

Question marks abound, and will have to be settled on the hardwood. While our Mustangs have a storied tradition, are extremely well-coached and appear to have a well-rounded and deep lineup this season, with the potential to do great things, in order to be the man, you have to beat the man. While Brossart had led the Campbell County series 8-3 over the past previous eight years, the Camels have won our last four encounters, albeit many in dramatic fashion, but wins nonetheless, and getting back over that hump is our first order of business. Winning the 37th District for the first time since 2007 and a return to the 10th Region Tournament, where we have been absent since 2010 are also priorities with this group.

 

Emerging from the brutally tough 37th District competition is no foregone conclusion for any of the three major contenders. So, until given the opportunity to settle the issue in actual competition and earn a loftier ranking, we will accept the fourth place regional ranking assessed by the evaluators and continue to work hard on a daily basis to be up to the task of playing for district and regional championships.

 

Mason County possesses a stable full of young stud athletes, winners of the 10th Region Freshmen championship last year, who will be throwing the Royals' hats back in the ring before long.

 

Mason Monroe, in my opinion, if flat-out the best guard in the region. Even without a strong supporting cast on paper, he has the ability to carry a team on his shoulders, and will make the players around him better. Until it actually comes to pass, I suspect that the demise of the Pendleton County Wildcats is greatly exaggerated.

Pretty solid lists. There may be some surprises as the season progresses, but you have to go with what you know about now. I don't get to see a lot of the southern 10th teams so hard to gauge how they fare against the northern ones. Not normal to see 3 teams from the 37th ranked so high.

All 3 of the 37th teams deserved these ranking. In the past you have had GRC and Mason Co in the top spots, this year, not the case.

 

I agree we will see some suprise as the season goes on. Lots of new faces that no one has seen play yet. I went to our scrimmage last night and only saw 5 faces that I knew. Lots of new ones for GRC and very young. New coaches at a few of the schools too. Also with a couple of players hurt and coming off injuries, you don't know how they will preform when they return.

I think the key to Moco is going to be the level of play they get from the kid from Vegas. Word on the street is that he is very quick and can drive to score or draw a defender and set up a teammate. If he gets Omar some east buckets, turn out the lights, the party's over.

I agree with you on the kid from Vegas. Not ranked in our top 10 pre-season, but will be one of the top players from what I have researched on him. Excited to watch him and the rest of the MoCo team. Will get to Dec 14th.

Comment on the number one pressing question. Can Happy transfer his college success to Mt Sterling. From all the transfers at Montgomery this year I say yes.

I for one am looking forward to The Augusta vs. Pendleton County tilt. Monroe v. Bach will be special to watch.
