I'm not just talking back or inner city kids, come on out to EKY or SWV.....you will see plenty.

You, along with all the other Reps. who have complained about the blacks voting for a black, do realize that the black vote has ALWAYS GONE TO THE DEMOCRATS? Please tell me that you WERE aware of this? Yes, maybe having a black male run for office increased their turnout numbers, but the black community has ALWAYS supported the Dems. Their vote this election and the last election should be of no surprise to you or any other Republican, and no not because Obama is black, but BECAUSE HE IS A DEMOCRAT!

 

I am almost under the assumption that it goes wayyyyyyyyy beyond the fact that Reps. are not in touch with reality. I think they refuse to accept how things are, and how they are becoming. If you want to go back to the mid 1800's take a trip down to Oxford, Mississippi and shout "The South Will Rise Again" will everyone down there. No question on both accounts. The bottomline is there are more Democrats than Republicans. There are more liberal minded people than conservative minded people. Romney was right about the 47%, I know people don't want to here that but it's true.

 

We have become a secular country. Things that used to be considered extreme are now the norm. TV censors will allow more cusswords and filter a slang word for homosexuals. That's our culture, unfortunately it's who we are.

He already stated that of course a black democrat is going to pull in record numbers of black voters. Anyone who has paid attention to politics and the black vote of the last 50 years should recognize that a black democrat running for president will pull in record numbers of black voters. Hardly a surprise. I also guarantee a black republican wouldn't get 50% of the black vote. So is it really about race then?

You guys have hit your collective heads if you think that people wanting stuff wasn't a major factor in this election. Obamacare is a prime example. I'm not saying it's the only reason, a country that has distanced themselves from God and a black population that would vote for just about any black canidate are others. Before anyone gets all upset about the black comment let's remember Jessie Jackson's son won re-election and he is under treatement for being bi-polar and investigation from the Department of Justice for campaign finance fraud.

 

Of course they want stuff. Stuff like equal rights, marriage equality, equal opportunity in terms of jobs and educating their kids. They want affordable college, to see their friends and family who were born and raised here be treated like the productive citizens they are instead of criminals. They want our government to stop fighting wars and focus on things here at home. They want access to health care and for everyone to pay taxes that their income dictates. They want quite a few things from their government. Handouts isn't one of them, they just want the government to work for them like it does for the very wealthy in this country.

The whitest candidate ever got 92% in 2000.

 

Kerry got 88%.

 

Carter got 94%.

 

This issue of race with President Obama is a red herring.

I'm still shell shocked. Not so much about the election but about how much America has changed in the past 10 years or so. It's happened right under my nose and I didn't realize it.

 

The GOP party didn't realize it either, that's why all the finger pointing is happening...How can you not notice?

I am baffled by this continued refrain from the conservative demographic. I've had WAY too much time to listen to talk radio this week and read crap on the internet. And most are echoing your sentiments. The majority of the country is NOT voting because they want stuff. And frankly, when the conservative party(ies) realize that, they'll figure out a big part of what they need to do to relate to more than the hard right.

 

I'm sorry, but I'll never compromise what I believe in to pander for votes and I'd hope the politicians I support would never do so either. That's the definition of having no backbone or integrity IMO. My "guy" will never win an election and I'm cool with that, but I couldn't care any less about them relating to people more.

I am amazed when anyone says that they are shocked when things are not what they thought or want. I've experienced the same feelings over the years, but I blamed myself for not being aware. The evidence is EVERYWHERE, and if we don't recognize it, we are living with our heads in the sand and listening to and reading only what we already agree with. No matter what we think we "know" based on our experience in our small part of the world, it's never the whole story on a national or global scale. That's why what we read or listen to should never be the whole of what we use as evidence to form our opinion. And we should take heart. The human race is a highly adaptive species. Things change, we learn, adapt and move forward. There is no end, just a different now. When we stop learning and adapting, then it will be the end. But just because it isn't what we want, it doesn't spell doom.

Your right to vote as you wish. But if you don't care that your candidate relates to the majority, you will be disappointed. But you'll always have your principles. . Seriously, there are issues I don't compromise on. The difference between you and I, though, is that I DO expect my candidate of choice to relate to me, to the rest of the country. I may not agree with everything the candidate campaigns on. But I also don't expect my candidate to only work for me. I choose based upon who will be best for the country as a whole, not a selection of special interest groups.
