2017 Prospect QB Tanner Morgan at Ryle

Featured Replies

Lets see Racke has already played Freshmen Football and the Morgan kid?

Vonhandorf is good enough to be playing varsity basketball this season for VMA and the Morgan Kid?

Seems like the other two kids will have a ton more HS experience than Morgan has and you know that Morgan will out work them, out study them and out perform them, how?

Racke and VonHandorf are varsity ready right NOW. Especially VonHandorf in Bball who could START yes I said START or at a minimum be the 6th man on most Varsity Bball teams in this area right now! They all should have great HS careers.

So this young man is a QB prospect playing varsity bball at Villa. Obviously he will be going to a different high school in he plans on playing football.

Very good observation Stinky II. :) There is a reason for EVERYTHING.....

I have known Braden and his dad since he was in 2nd or 3rd grade..I have seen him play many aau basketball and select baseball games..Great kid!! I was just saying how it is strange how these kids and families leave the Independence area for greener pastures..:jump:

Why is it greener pastures? Single A football is nothing compared to 6A football. Not saying Beechwood isn't a great program, they are. But it is big fish, small pond in my opinion.

The attraction is an easy path to a state title. Easy competition. Inflated statistics.

It is obviously greener pastures to those who leave. What makes it greener is probably different for each person. More successful program, playing time, wanting to play a particular position, better coaching, higher rated school, better chance at a state title, following friends,... The list is long as to why people leave one program for others.

WOW are you serious NKY 6A is that great? BW and NC can compete and right now the 5a schools look stronger and then add the Blueboys and Birds. I get the big fish and small pond argument but academics strong in the BW program! Let's be honest SK has overhyped farm ponds. Why would a fish want to hang in a school with Minos! IMO

I wasn't speaking of SK I was speaking of 6A football. I am not trashing any program at all. I have ties to no program in NKY yet, my kids are to young. I was just making an observation coming from a single A school in Eastern KY that was very successful in football in the 90's. As a single A alum, I know how successful we were but I also know that we wouldn't have competed with the Trinity's or Male's of the state. I just think it comes back to big fish in a small pond. Doesn't make you a bad team or person. But for the kids that choose not to transfer to one of these successful smaller schools and choose to compete at Boone, Campbell and SK it doesn't mean their better either or that they swim in a overhyped farm pond.

Easy path to the state title really!! Easy competition huh? BW's schedule is one of the more competitive schedules you will find. They go out and look for the bigger tougher teams to play. They have not dodged the likes of CCH or the Birds. And as far as winning the state title it has been a few years since they have won it. I don't think your beloved school could match up with Mayfield either. I would be willing to say that every year BW has won State they were the 2nd best team in NKY behind only the Birds.

Not true at all.

You have your powerhouses in the state and if you look at them there is only 1 in 6A and that is Trinity. 5A has Bowling green. 4A has Highlands 1A has Mayfield and BW

6A is not the end all. Size doesn't matter, the school matters no matter what size their enrollment.

To prove my point, just look at this year in NKY. Your big pond 6A was arguably the worst class in Football. Look at your top 10 teams in NKY and look at what classes arre at the top. That should tell you something about big schools and little schools.

Anyway back to Tanner....................Will he be the Freshman QB next year, JV or compete for Varsity?

Probably depends on the QB competition, right? Who else is in the mix?

Gorilla, you need to get out a little more and communicate with people that have actually sent kids on to the next DI level. Friday nights are for creating film to gain an interest from college recruiters. Many DI recruiters want to see the athlete in person and watch them perform at their camps and meet their standards which are usually higher than most Friday night competitions

.

I'm not disagreeing with anyone on this thread but isn't it a bit naive to assume how college coaches recruit? Are you telling me coaches only lure, not evaluate, at games? What happens when you have a kid in the south, who doesn't have the means to travel to numerous camps. I think if a player is good enough, a coach will go anywhere to see him play. Sometimes youtube highlights aren't quite enough.

Really? In BW's case they play a very difficult non district schedule, no other single A teams to be found, and of the AA teams, they generally play the eventual state champion in that classification. It is difficult to inflate your stats on three single A games a year considering most, if not all varsity starters are standing on the sideline well before halftime. Jealously doesnt become you jolmstead, saying BW plays nothing but easy competition is almost like saying SK plays a tough schedule! Not based in fact.

Rule and exception.

You are correct and in those locations, colleges have camps at an area high school to evaluate local players.
