A hurricane/tropical storm is battering the east coast in late October. People have been evacuated in several states. At papa's house, it's snowing and we still have forsythia in bloom.

Does anyone else feel like this storm has a "Day after Tomorrow" feel to it.

Sounds like today and tonight will be the worst of it.

Several friends at WVU are livid about the university still having class today; said that there are wrecks all over the city.

^ It's college, right? College runs like business. If businesses are closing, then maybe college should close. If businesses are open, then college should be open. There aren't school bus concerns.

Seems like this system/storm has effected winds/jetstream across almost the entire US. Just incredible.

The power is still out in the Cleveland area. We are running on generators up there to keep the servers going. There is enough gas on hand to get us through today, but tomorrow could get iffy. We could manage here, but would have to send some people home. St. Louis and Chicago would have to shut down.

 

There appears to be automotive dealerships (our primary customers) open in the affected states. We are getting orders from Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, along with Ohio. The order count today from Ohio is second only to Florida. PA is not doing bad either. I'm kind of surprised by the volume. We expected activity to be quite a bit off today. It appears to be right on line with a normal day.

I would agree with you 100% if we were talking about anywhere in KY. But after living in Morgantown, I've never driven up steeper streets in my life. They are the "Mountaineers" for a reason; puts everything I've seen in EKY to shame once you drive up I-79.

 

On a side note, it really irritates me that a lot of the news outlets are talking about how this storm will affect the election. I wish they would drop the election for a d*mn second and focus on the people in the NE. I do not care about the election, I care about how those in the area are being affected. That's the end of my rant.

The NY Marathon is set to still take place this weekend. The NY Marathon is the world's largest and set to host 50,000 people... 20,000 of which are coming from outside the United States.

 

Many are upset they are moving forward with the marathon. Part of the course will have to be redirected, but the transportation situation is going to be bonkers on Sunday. It is a huge revenue generator, but not sure this is the right time to be hosting 50,000 people.

I'd have to agree considering its Thursday and they still have trouble getting people across a bridge just to go to work let alone a marathon. Subways still closed and three person minimum to cross a bridge - it will be interesting to see if this is still in place this weekend.
