Yousa. I was starting to believe that Holy Cross was coming around. I would say that is some Payback. Maybe HC is setting NCC up for another Playoff surprise :lol:

No surprise. Although I expected a little more out of the Holy Cross offense. It looks like the Breds are ready for the Tigers next week.

I think NewCath has found their way and is now headed in the right direction. This team may have started out slow however, is now clicking on all cylindars. As doe Hc I hope they will continue to improve as they have a lot of good palyer's down the road. I wish both teams the best in the playoff's. JD

I am pretty sure I was spot on in the prediction thread! NewCath dominated this game on special teams and both sides of the ball. I was a little suprised by the very dirty play of some members of the HC team. We all know they are better kids than that, need to keep their cool and play the game. NewCath seems to be clicking when it matters and looked very good tonight. HC scored their only TD vs NewCath JV. The Indians have an awful lot of work to do and fast if they want to do anything in the playoffs. I wish both teams nothing but the best going forward.

On a side note Scott has wonderful facilities. Very open nice layout. Great place to watch a game.

Holy Cross Stats and Scoring Summary

 

NCC 262 rushing, 15 passing. Hayes 11 rushes 169 yds 3 TD, two punt returns TD - 5 total TD. Smith 8 rushes 56 yds 1 TD. Myers 3 rushes 29 yds 1 TD.

 

Holy Cross 153 rushing, 97 passing. Beal 12 rushes 78 yds (came out for injury). Trail 5-17 97 yds 1 TD. McClendon 1 receiving TD.

 

Congratulations to the Breds. They set the tone early with their physical play. Hayes is a beast in the NCC offense. Smith is very quick as well. Indians had numerous dropped passes. The same story for them defensively as they were unable to maintain containment on NCC runs. Surprised to see the breakdowns on special teams with the two punt returns for TDs. Beal had a 62 run where he was called out at the 3 yd line. He appeared he hit the orange pylon. I don't want to take anything away from the Bred's victory, but you will see comments about the referees. They had no problem calling personal fouls, but they seemed to not understand what holding and blocking in the back are. Really the worst I have seen in 12 years. HC did lose their cool on a couple occasions by listening to the taunting instead of just playing the game. Koz was very upset. However, from field level I can see a lot of extracurricular activities from both sides (the stepping on hands, the punches at the bottom of piles, etc.). But once again, in summary, NCC proved their dominance in NKY 2A tonight. They should have no problem advancing in the playoffs as the #1 seed. If Newport beats Lloyd tomorrow, my understanding of the KHSAA 3-way tie structure tells me that HC will need to beat Holmes for the #3 seed (otherwise, they will settle for the #4 seed). If Lloyd wins, they get the #2, HC #3 and Newport #4.

I will post this in here instead of the other thread.... It's hard for a team to come back from poor officiating when hcs defense was playing fairly well into the half. Remember nccs first 2 tds came on a short field and their 3rd on a punt return, outside of these scores they were not really driving the ball on the Indians. If the td counted for beal on any of the 4 times that he got in, it would have/could have been 21-10 ncc at the half.... The long tds that were the ones that crushed hc, these runs should have never happened but because of poor officiating they did and that is when hc seemed to lose all hope. If you don't believe me just watch the film and you will see. Also the hc players were a bit chippy at the start of the game but settled down, there was a lot if talking though by both teams throughout the game that was not one sided. This very well could play out just like last year in the playoffs but hc still has to keep getting better bc ncc is a better team right now and they still beat hc by a couple tds even if the refs didn't help.

Darn Those Refs!

I should have added in my summary that the Breds goal line stand was very impressive. The refs had nothing to do with that. The refs did not change the outcome of the game, but they did make it much more frustrating for the HC side.

The HC offense went very flat when Beal went out in the 2nd quarter. He did not return. HC becomes very predictable without both Beal and Pouncy in the game.

WHAT!!!!! It was a hot knife going thru butter tonight. 35 pts. in the 1st half and they were playing fairly well. :confused:

I'm going to act like you didn't say that......nope, can't let that go. HC starters didn't move the ball against the NCC's JV and they had their chance considering they stayed in until 2 min left in the game. Oh, and I figured out who calls the plays on the HC sideline. Coach Koz. How do I know that? He told his QB, so.

If you think it was close, no worries, you'll get your shot week 3 of the playoffs....if HC gets there. I know NCC will.
