I wonder if he did the math on the KHSAA 3-way tie breaker point system for Lloyd, HC, and Newport. I had looked at it prior to yesterday (and even involved NCC), but the Holy Spirit prevented me from saying anything in the Predictions thread (that was a Catholic joke)! I'd be taking a lot of heat about that right now if I did! The way I see it, Lloyd is the #2 seed regardless. If they beat Newport, HC is #3 and Newport #4 based on 2A District 6 records (no ties). However, if Newport upsets Lloyd, then we get to the pencil and paper and try to calculate, for each team, the total wins of 4 other opponents outside the group of each other. As of this afternoon, this is what I see if there is a 3-way tie for second:

 

Lloyd - Owen County (4 + a possible 2 more), Dayton (3 + a possible 2 more), Walton-Verona (6 + a possible 2 more), Gallatin County (5 + a possible 2 more although one of those is with Owen County) = 18 points + 1 point for the OC/GC game + up to 7 more points. It gets more interesting. If Lloyd beats Bellevue, Dayton gets dropped from the calculation in favor of the Tigers (4 + a possible 1 more). This shows how good a year Lloyd has had despite the big loss to NCC to be in this position.

 

Holy Cross - Dayton (3 + a possible 2 more), Bishop Brossart (1 + a possible 2 more) = 4 points. Holy Cross plays Holmes next week (5 + a possible 1 more) up for grabs if HC wins.

 

Newport - Dayton (3 + a possible 2 more), Ludlow (1 + a possible 2 more), Bishop Brossart (1 + a possible 2 more) = 5 points

 

Summary - if I understand the KHSAA guidelines correctly, you can see why I think Lloyd gets the #2 seed regardless. In a 3-way tie, if HC beats Holmes, they get the #3 seed. If not and if you believe that heavy favorites win the "possible" games in the HC & Newport scenarios, the one lone Ludlow win could be the difference in Newport getting the #3 seed and HC falling to the #4 seed. But as I mentioned, Newport has to beat Lloyd tonight in order to create the 3-way tie in the first place. Maybe #3 vs #4 is not a big deal to most of you in the long run, but it was fun doing the calulations anyway!

In any scenario, Brossart will not be going to the playoffs. They finished 0-4 in the District. In a 3-way tie as I explained, Brossart would be part of the HC and Newport calculations, but not Lloyd because Lloyd has other teams to use that have more wins. Dayton and Brossart effectively can be tossed out since they are in both the HC & Newport calculations. If Newport wins tonight, in my mind, it does boil down to HC vs. Holmes for the last 2 seeds to be determined in 2A District 6.

Pretty good pics of game, including one off Mason Meyers tackle of Holy cross #22 on the 3 yard line, on Tristatefootball.com!!!! Breds played a hell of a game. I sat next to some parents of some senior players from Holy cross and lets just say they were less than happy with coach Koz....they kept yelling, "coach our defense sucks!!" I thought the game would be much closer than it was!! Congrats Breds!!!

WHAT!!!!! It was a hot knife going thru butter tonight. 35 pts. in the 1st half and they were playing fairly well. :confused:

 

Shrek you can't win anything with the lawnboy he's been smell the clippings to much!! Lawnboy if you watched the same game I did then what Shrek said was true only if our guys catch the ball!! HC should have made this game a lot closer then what it was and I have to say our QB had a good game but as usual OUR wide receiver and safety just don't cut it but I'm done beating that dead horse! I know it's football BUT I don't know if I have ever saw a season where bouth BW & NCC ever played this dirty and cheap shot football as I have this year and I am so TIRED of the fans that think its ok and act like there is nothing wrong with it. Last year we win state because we was the better team and played with a lot of hart and because we wanted it more and not like NCC that thinks we just got lucky!! That's crazy! I do think that we can play with and yes win in our next meeting. This has been a hard year for HC and I think maybe the changing of the QB wasn't the best idea but that is what we have done and coz will stick with it and make it work so congrats on the win but I would be cautious of the tribe they are not done YET!!! And that's a FACT!! Shrek like the way you think!!!

Did you count the personal fouls for each team? NCC are the cheap shotters? Again #3 should have been thrown out of the game. As far as catching the ball.... If only our guys were better, If only our guys were more athletic, if only our guys could block or tackle. These are things bad teams talk about. Teams that get running clocks put on them in the 3rd q with 10 min left.....a running clock! This only for select HC fans that can't see past their fanhood.

I gave it up to Trail, he did his part. The cheapshots are you kidding, HC was flagged for more personal fouls. Games are not determined by "what if", bottomline the Breds craved the Indians like a Thanksgiving Turkey.

Bottom line is that HC is not a very good football team in all phases (offense, defense & special teams). Offense - average QB at best, good running back in Beal but so so blocking, and dropped passes. Two opportunities inside the 5 yard line and come up with only 3 points. Ever heard of a QB roll out and a pass - instead run straight ahead time after time in a pile for no gains. Two touchdowns could have provided good momentum - not necessarily a win. Defense - very poor tackling. NCC offense pretty predictable - run it down your throat until you stop them. NCC QB threw the ball about 5 times the whole game. Special teams - punting is horrible with about 25 yd punts at best. NCC Hayes returns a short punt down the short side of the field and a HC player can't even push him out of bounds. Then you have 2 HC players (#1 & #3, do not want to give names) that were flagged for personal fouls in the first half right in front of everyone - not smart. Coach Koz was rightly justified in giving his team an earful - grow up. I say it like I see it. I don't like HC chances against Holmes next week and then a probable one and out in an away playoff game. I left last night's game at halftime after I did not win split the pot - bummer.

HC MAN, you are delusional. I don't think you watched the same game we all watched Thursday. As far as being better last year, add up the points in the two games these teams played, 34-13 and 21-24.....54-37 NCC. As I stated before, HC had everything go their way in the playoff game and won by 3 points. If NCC got the lucky bounces HC got in that game, they would have beat them 49-0, not 24-21. #1 quit Thursday. Beal said no mass also. It's not real fun when you getting beat to death every week. Little injuries feel much worse....everyone feels big and bad until you get hit in the face lol
