Just curious, why did Trail not attend Highlands like his siblings, especially if he just wanted to play football.

 

Duh, cause he wanted to play and not sit the bench. Same reason he left NCC.

And nothing wrong with that. It is his senior year and he had been playing in Arizona................Why would he want to sit his last year? Makes no sense. Plus again I will reiterate a previous poster and it is not his fault that he moved from Arizona and was put in this position.

I'll tackle the white elephant in the room...... I have a little sympathy and a lot of respect for a kid placed in the situation of Mitch Trail. Through no fault of his own, he was literally traveled across the country to start over in HS going into his Senior yr....... I am sure the path traveled to date via NCC to HC has come with much anxiety and perhaps even regret for a 17 yr old kid (who is not the primary one responsible for making decisions about where he lands). Let's not forget that he is a kid, who I'm sure just wanted to play football, somewhere/somehow in his senior year in this foriegn land we call home.

Bottom line, be happy he has found somewhere to be and play........from this angle he seems to be a pretty good football player and a pretty good kid. Good luck to his team and to yours going forward.......folks its still just kids playing HS football.

 

You know, I never want to see a kid not do what his dreams are, but.....I heard he left NCC because he wanted to put himself in the best situation to play football at the next level. Lets be honest, he's smaller than hightchew from NCC and not a 1/4 of the football player. Hightchews only offer was partial money from Shawnee state for baseball. At some point, an adult needed to step up and let him know, it's not gonna happen. The dad in me hopes I'm wrong because you wanna see kids succeed. But, the person who lives in this real world, not gonna happen.

I have never been a fan of Coach Koz and his coaching style. Congrats to NCC on a very impressive victory..

Congrats to the Breds last night. They dominated in every phase of the game. HC struggled most with what they have been struggling with all season which is stopping the run and tackling. They "could" have stayed in the game early (and possibly gained more confidence) but dropped a few passes from Trail that would have sustained drives and kept the NCC offense off the field. The RB for NCC was very impressive and is a heck of a player IMO. NCC is clearly the team to beat going into the 2A playoffs.

 

CGG12/Lawnboy/NKY Footballfan - Not all HC fans are dullusional. Don't hold the comments of a few against all of us. LOL.....Everyone knows I am a HC fan, but a realistic one. If these 2 teams play again, and that is a big if, from what I saw last night, the outcome will be the same. I do agree with NKYFootball fan that Coach Eviston was very classy in taking out his starters early in the 3rd quarter or else they could have scored 70+.

You are 100% correct on this point, IMO Trail throws a very nice ball and his receivers did him ZERO favors last night. Especially late in the 3rd quarter when Trail throw one about 40 plus yards in the air and the wideout had no one within 5 yards of him on about the NewCath 10 and dropped the ball.

Did Smith the Frosh run the ball last night?

 

I would say he is quicker then Hayes. But one thing is for sure, the NewCath backfield will not be lacking for a few more years at least.

Trail is an OK football player. Maybe maybe maybe NAIA at very best. I wish him all the luck in the world in reaching his dream.

Elliott Rust is a beast!!!! Great player and awesome coach....he's been passing his skills onto some Jr.high kids at Newcath!!!

I wonder if he did the math on the KHSAA 3-way tie breaker point system for Lloyd, HC, and Newport. I had looked at it prior to yesterday (and even involved NCC), but the Holy Spirit prevented me from saying anything in the Predictions thread (that was a Catholic joke)! I'd be taking a lot of heat about that right now if I did! The way I see it, Lloyd is the #2 seed regardless. If they beat Newport, HC is #3 and Newport #4 based on 2A District 6 records (no ties). However, if Newport upsets Lloyd, then we get to the pencil and paper and try to calculate, for each team, the total wins of 4 other opponents outside the group of each other. As of this afternoon, this is what I see if there is a 3-way tie for second:

 

Lloyd - Owen County (4 + a possible 2 more), Dayton (3 + a possible 2 more), Walton-Verona (6 + a possible 2 more), Gallatin County (5 + a possible 2 more although one of those is with Owen County) = 18 points + 1 point for the OC/GC game + up to 7 more points. It gets more interesting. If Lloyd beats Bellevue, Dayton gets dropped from the calculation in favor of the Tigers (4 + a possible 1 more). This shows how good a year Lloyd has had despite the big loss to NCC to be in this position.

 

Holy Cross - Dayton (3 + a possible 2 more), Bishop Brossart (1 + a possible 2 more) = 4 points. Holy Cross plays Holmes next week (5 + a possible 1 more) up for grabs if HC wins.

 

Newport - Dayton (3 + a possible 2 more), Ludlow (1 + a possible 2 more), Bishop Brossart (1 + a possible 2 more) = 5 points
