I could not agree more RE. Looks like somebody forgot you had to play the game in order to actually get the win. According to the paper looks like Dixie should have won by alot more like 35-15. Congrats to a Dixie team for not quitting even though they were 1-6.....yeah 1-6. I know kids on both teams so nothing against the kids but for UK#1Fan how do you like your crow, grilled, fried, or baked?!!!! And btw: since you want to deflect this HUGE loss of the district to "7-2 is still a good season" or how you will get a better playoff draw, nobody plays for 2nd place. Way to tank a chance get winning the district and hosting multiple games in the playoffs....Talk is STILL very very cheap!!

Drew Moore is going to be fun to watch in 2013 and 2014.

On to the game. Early on it could have been really bad for SK. Dixie moved the ball to the one yard line on their first drive before fumbling on 4th and goal from the one. SK fumbled on their first play and Moore ran it in from 17 with 4:50 in the first.

 

SK then fumbled the kickoff but they held Dixie and put together a nice drive capped off with a one yard Sampson score with 26.5 in the first. SK scored on their next drive on a fifteen yard pass from Kuntz to Wassom and led 15-7. Dixie threatened late in the half but Wilson picked off a Moore pass in the endzone and they went to the lockers.

 

The offensive display by SK in the second half was abysmal. They had great field position on their first two drives and didn't do squat. Meanwhile Moore was displaying great poise in the pocket, completing some very nice passes and continually moving the chains. SK had 24 plays in the second half and mustered a paltry 68 yards while DH put up over 200 yards. SK had one last shot when DH fumbled with a bit over two minutes left but after one first down they fumbled and the game was over.

 

Once again they were destroyed in TOP, DH with over a ten minute edge. The SK defense was on the field way too much and SK made way too many mistakes, turnovers and plenty of dropped passes. Hats off to Dixie, I think they have a good thing going and it all starts with a very athletic QB under center.

DH: Passing: 16-23-1-160; Rushing: 44-212; Total 67-372

 

Thanks for the details neerfan. I am not shocked by the upset but I did not expect it. I said in the prediction thread that this would be a close game. The most surprising thing to me is the score, because I expected a high scoring game. But as I read neerfan's report and the story in the paper, I can see turnovers kept the point total down.

 

Congrats to Dixie. They now have wins over two of the top teams in N. Ky. in Conner and Simon Kenton and they play hard every week. They are a better team than their record shows, mainly because of Drew Moore. He is very elusive in the pocket, extends plays and then makes something happen. Dixie usually plays better in the second half of their games so that would indicate good coaching and adjustments at half time. In both their wins they came from behind to win and they almost did the same thing to Beechwood with a strong second half effort.

 

The thing that real surprises me most about this game is Simon Kenton's passing stats. Dixie has been suspect on defense, especially versus the pass, so I really thought SK would rack up passing yards and that would get them the win. I was looking for a final score of 35-31 in favor of SK in this one because of that. Did Dixie's defense finally figure it out or did SK's offense just miss opportunities?

 

This district is now a complete zoo. Talk about a fantastic, unpredictable finish. Should make for an interesting finish tonight and next week.

I did not know he was a Sophomore. He's already a leader and a true team player. In the Beechwood game I noticed him tapping is linemen on the helmet after plays. Unlike the previous QB, it was clear it was not negative, it was showing encourgament and appreciation for blocking. I noticed he also went up to a receiver that dropped a pass and talked to him before they got back to huddle. Again, you could tell it was positive and not him complaining. I'm sure he's not perfect, but it sounds like the makings of a great comeback for Dixie.

I would say no. I sat next to his parents a couple weeks ago, and I would assume that it was his biological dad, and I'm not making that assumption on skin color. The guy was just as nervous and antsy in his seat like any other dad watching their son play. They seem like good people too.

If he is, imagine how good Ludlow would have been had the Caples, Moore, Pouncey, as well as the QB they have there now all been there together. Best of luck to all these young men though!

Very true on the bolded. Same goes with Bellevue and Tyler Durham who is the QB at Campbell County.
