Beechwood 49 Bellevue 20

Recommended Posts

If you have such a great memory of that year Qryche, you'd also remember NCC was state champs, beating Mayfield 42-7, and Beechwood was sitting at home after losing to Lexington Christian 43-20.

Wrong they beat Somerset 35-10 but nice effort.

Annual run to where? We know they will get to region finals, maybe semi-finals, then what?

Annual run to put yourself into contention to win a state championship. Is BW favored to win state this year, no, but strange things can happen on Friday night's in the late fall. A big play here, a blown assignment there, and the next thing you know the team that had no chance has momentum, and the team that could not loose is in a dog fight. Thats what makes high school football the great game that it is.

...and Beechwood fans don't come on here saying they had an "extremely great" team!

Let's face it, Bellevue, Ludlow and Dayton aren't much competition this year and for that matter, most years. Occassionally, Bellevue will have a decent team, this just isn't one of those years. It's pretty easy to say they're peaking at the right time of the year when, in fact, the competition level just goes down 2-3 notches, so, who really knows.

Bellevue is right around the 10th best team in 1A this year and is consistently one of the better 1A teams in the state. They have solid teams year in and year out over the past 20 years and longer. If we rank the best 1A programs since we went to 6 classes, Bellevue is probably somewhere in the bottom half of the top 10. Yes, there is a gap between the very top teams and the next tier, like most classes. But Bellevue is a good team. You need to rethink your comments in reference to Bellevue.

Can't really disagree with what you said but I might point out that it has been years since Bw lost a game in the playoffs that they were susposed to win.

I find that unless you are in the very top of 1A ball you cannot compete with most teams from the higher classes. I doubt Bellevue can compete with any of the good teams from the higher classes. That tells me whether a team is legit or not.

Not to take anything away from the Bellevue program, they do the best they can with what they have to work with and have had some great teams here and there. However, when was the last time they scheduled anyone outside of 1A or 2A? Just asking.

Last year? Seriously, Beechwood was supposed to win that game at Mayfield in the eyes of many. And your argument in general doesn't work because Beechwood is supposed to win them all. The only two games they weren't supposed to win in the past 5 or 6 years are the Mayfield games in 2009 and 2010. And some people not in the know actually thought Beechwood was the favorite in 2009.

It doesn't matter. Look at what they do in the playoffs. They are one of the top 10 programs in 1A.

Not true at all IMO; in most cases, the larger schools shouldn't struggle to beat the smaller schools, but happens at times. To say that a school like Bellevue or any other team from Class A is not legit because they can't beat teams in 4A and up is not relevant.

I expected Mf to win but that is no suprise to you. To neutral observers I think that game last year was a toss up with many picking Mf and many picking Bf.

It is relevant. And I didnt say 4A and up , I mean to 2A and up. In Kentucky High School football if you're the 9th rated team in class 1A, in the overall picture you are not a very good team. You may a have a few good players but the top teams will wear you out.
