Bellevue bring on Trinity, St. X, Highlands, Lex cath, Cov Cath. Come on Man!!!

I think there is a reason why football has a class system. Schools with 200 students dont have as many boys to draw from than a 4, 5, 6 A schools.

No offense, but that is the same tired argument that is brought up every time in these type discussions. No one thinks that a 1A team will beat T and X, heck, there aren't any 6A teams that can beat them. But, the top 1A teams can, and do, beat the, less then top, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A teams.

The size of the school has less to do with football then most people want to, or can, believe. The only numbers game that is important in football is, can you platoon, or can you not platoon. And, there are a lot of 5A and 6A teams that can NOT platoon.

Find me ten better. And here is some help. Beechwood, Mayfield, Hazard and Frankfort are better. Now you only need to find 6 better. I don't think you can. I'm not saying Bellevue is a world beater. And what Snake said above is on target. Bellevue isn't going to beat your top 4 but they are one of the top 10 programs in 1A.

What's sad is you probably are right, 1A pretty much has lost any other team that would have been in the top 3/5 of that group too, NCC, Danville, Lexington Christian, Pretty much seals the fate of the 1A state title being in Beechwood, Mayfield, or Hazard's hands for the next, I don't know, you tell me how long.

When you have 119 boys in grades 9-12 your ODDS go down of finding more talented players than a school that has 500 boys. Also when you have 119 boys the numbers on your team usually go down which means that you dont have as many good players as schools with 500 boys, this causes practices not to be as good/competive as a school that has 500 players. Big schools kids know that if they dont get the job done then there is someone waiting in the wings to take there place. this is not always the case in Class A. JMO

IMO, Beechwood, Mayfield, Hazard, Frankfort, Raceland, Fairview, Holy Cross and Pikeville are clearly better, more consistent programs than Bellevue.. You could argue that Williamsburg, Campbellsville, KCD and Russellville have been better teams the last several years. So, they may be a Top 10 team, but, if so, they're at the bottom end of it or just outside of it. They were even further down the ladder when NCC, LCA, Danville, Bardstown, Crittenden Co and Middlesboro were in 1a.

The only point I was trying to make is we always hear how Beechwood is peaking at the right time and I'm not sure you can tell that simply because the level of competition decreases so much when district play begins compared to what they play in the early part of the year. That's not a knock on the Tigers, at all, because it's the same way with Mayfield. You get into district play, beat teams by 40+ and the starters usually don't see but about 2 to 2 1/2 qtrs of action in those games. I worry more about the team getting complacent and losing that edge they were playing with when they did play tougher teams, moreso than anything else. It can be hard to turn it on and off and on again for that long a season.

VOR never said where they were in the Top 10 currently. He simplys said they are in the Top Ten and nobody has argued that. Well they argued it, but didn't give any valid evidence. Did you really feel the need to point out that they would be further down the list if we were still in the 4 Class format?

I get what you feel you were saying and I agree with it, but the reality is, your attempt to make a point about what BW success does/does not mean, you certainly came across as bashing Bellevue. Then you keep trying to add evidence that further puts down Bellevue and yet tstill fail to contradict VORs main point of them being a Top 10 Class A team.

For the fans and players of the other color Tigers, this Beechwood Fan is always impressed with the program you put on the field. They always seem play hard and never quit. Given the history mentioned above, I never chalk up a W until the game is played.

Is that as opposed to the vast amount of competition Mayfield faces in their district? Just wonderin'

I know he didn't say they were currently a Top 10 program, he was talking historically. All I did was point out 8 teams that have clearly been better on a consistent basis and 4 others that could make a case for being just as good or better, which is what HE asked for when HE said name me 10 better. Plus, I didn't dispute they were in the Top 10, but, I did say, if they were, they were barely in and you could argue they were on the outside looking in. Plus, if someone wants to claim they're a "Top 10 team historically", I think it's fair to mention the teams that were in 1a prior to the new alignment, which further reiterates my point. If it's putting a team down to answer someone's question, then maybe they shouldn't ask it in the 1st place because that wasn't the intent. I'm sure Bellevue is well coached, plays hard and has great fan support.

Let's face it, Bellevue, Ludlow and Dayton aren't much competition this year and for that matter, most years. Occassionally, Bellevue will have a decent team, this just isn't one of those years. It's pretty easy to say they're peaking at the right time of the year when, in fact, the competition level just goes down 2-3 notches, so, who really knows.

Bellevue is right around the 10th best team in 1A this year and is consistently one of the better 1A teams in the state. They have solid teams year in and year out over the past 20 years and longer. If we rank the best 1A programs since we went to 6 classes, Bellevue is probably somewhere in the bottom half of the top 10. Yes, there is a gap between the very top teams and the next tier, like most classes. But Bellevue is a good team. You need to rethink your comments in reference to Bellevue.

Actually, it all started with you bashing on Beechwood's District Competition in General and VOR disputing that. Because I'm certain MHS. He said Top Ten and you still didn't provide 10 that are in front of them. Every Year?, I agree no, but you said they were not competition "MOST years" When clearly they are. Also, VOR did specifically say they were around the top 10 this year and I agree. We'll just have to see.

It did and rightfully so..I would bet that the average margin of victory for Beechwood vs other district teams over the past 10 years is at least 40 points and I'd bet close to that much over Bellevue. It was referencing someone saying Beechwood peaking at the right time and I hear that every year and I was just pointing out the fact that beating your district opposition by 40 pts or more says as much or more about the competition than it does about how much they're peaking and I think that's a fair point..

I stated that I understood what you were trying to say and I agree with some of it. We can move this to the thread that VOR is going to create :)

For the record, I respect your opinion and generally agree with your assessments. Just not this one entirely.
