Just like I thought when it works no one would say anything. Yet I guarntee people would be saying another stupid move by Marvin if it didn't work today. Remember I agreed last week that it was a bad idea to go for the fake. Just like it would have been a bad idea today too if it didn't work. The Bengals were playing on the road against a team they should beat and were down 7 to 3. If the get stopped the Jags get great field position, and possibly score which could have put the Bengals down more. The Bengals had more to lose this week by going for the fake than they did last week on this call. Also as far as we know they might have made the call on the line last week for the fake too. Or maybe the Bengals scouted and knew the Jags line up like that and had the fake prepared for it. Just typical responses by other people on here. If it didn't work they would have got torn up again for doing it. I just like that the Bengals are doing what winning teams do and that is being aggressive.

 

Which gets back to what I said, a fake is only a good call to people if it works. If it doesn't work then the majority of the time people will say it was a bad call and bad timing for it.

Running back Cedric Peerman, the personal protector who stands seven yards in front of punter Kevin Huber, took off on a career-long 48-yard run that set up the first Bengals touchdown.

 

Special teams coach Darrin Simmons said that type of call is produced by a long chain that begins with Lewis. Simmons said Lewis gave him the green light and while he has great trust in Peerman, Simmons said Peerman doesn't have the ability to make that call on the field

So far they seem to be at least the best bad team again. If Pittsburgh is a bad team they should make the playoffs again. I wouldn't be surprised though if they're actually good and they can split their games against good teams. Two weeks ago I didn't think that was possible.

And the LA stadium deal collapsed a couple weeks ago, meaning Los Angeles is no where close to getting a place for a team to move to. I don't believe Jacksonville (or Buffalo, Minnesota, San Diego, etc.) will be moving to Hollywood any time soon.

Don't buy into the fools gold this game is producing. The Jags are the 2nd worst team in the NFL in total offense currently and that is only because Chicago hasn't played yet this week. This D will continue to get carved up by good teams. The offense is pretty fun to watch though.

Not surprised I show you how it was the coaches call, and not on the field like you thought. Yet you choose to ignore that part. Remember I agreed with you all on the fact that last week was a bad decision. Just like I don't believe you for one second if you would have said you agreed with the call this week if they didn't get it. Hahahahaha so your going on with they were a bad team last year too. They were a good team last year, they just was not as good as the other playoff teams. Doesn't mean they were a bad team. We seen what bad teams are, I mean we are Bengal fans. They were not a bad team last year, can't even say they were a the best bad team. A bad team is just that a bad team. Even the best bad teams won't consistently beat the other teams they should beat in the NFL because they eventually have a let down against those teams since they are bad. The NFL has shown that, and you see surprises like that. Yet the Bengals consistenly still win those games. They were a good team last year, they just were not as good as they other good teams.

While I agree when they play better offenses the defense is going to give up yards and points. However as you all said the Bengals do have a solid offense though, and so that can help them in those games. The defenses they play this year as a whole are not as good as what they saw all of last year, so the offense should continue to do well. They just may have to win in a shootout.

 

As for the defense they have gotten better each week. Jones Drew was leading the NFL in rushing and the defense did shut him down which was a good sign. Also since Dunlap has been back they have gotten good pressure on the QB, even sacking a guy like RG3 who is mobile 6 times. So they have shown that they will be better than what they showed earlier in the year. However I agree that it still will be the weak part of this team and will come down to the offense against the better teams.

I will rarely get overly optimistic when it comes to these teams, however, back to back road wins in the NFL is a nice accomplishment for them.

Exactly. The Bengals now have a lot of home games coming up with the only away game at Cleveland. Winning the next two games will be huge though, because even though they will be at home they will begin their really tough stretch of games after the face the Browns.

The D line wasn't really much of a concern IMO so stopping MJD wasn't that big of an accomplishment. The secondary sucks and they are going to play a lot of teams coming up that can throw the ball. They might finish .500.

Fast forward to today and they're leading the league with 17, and on pace to challenge the all-time record of 72 in a single season.
