Raiders move to 6-0 with a good team effort. Lots of bright spots and good work by the frosh.

Looks like there is help on the way for the Raiders.

Anyone have any details?

Colin England is a beast. He looked like a varsity running back playing against freshmen. Ryle's linemen and linebackers looked like they could play varsity now. SK Frosh were just too small to deal with Ryle's size. Looks like the middle school program is paying dividends. QB Morgan threw some good passes, but the raiders did not need to pass the ball at all.

Does Ryle play any freshman on the JV or Varsity? I remember hearing that SK did not allow Frosh to play up. If so, it was apples to apples.

It is looking more and more like it is Ryle versus Beechwood for the best freshman team.

I believe England and Mieman (sp?) both get either jv or varsity time. There may be more.

Varsity time? And they are playing freshman ball also? You don't see that in football. I am not doubting you. I am just saying I can't recall ever seeing a player that got varsity time play freshman football also.

Either they want to get players extra experience, or, they care deeply about results.

Ryle's freshman line is bigger than BW varsity. I kid you not!

Jared Daugherty for HHS is a frosh. He is the varsity kicker and plays runnung back and linebacker for the freshman team.

That kid can boom it.

Yes, they play all three games a week. I do not believe they are the only ones that they have doing this.

As a parent, not sure how'd I'd feel about mine playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Lots of opportunites to get hit. If they have JV/Varsity skill, why 'waste' in playing Frosh? Move up and develop another player in that spot.

Best freshman team in the region, they don't play powerhouses out of Louisville. So how can either one truly be the best.

It appears that way. In the long run, I do not like a freshman team the size of a school like Ryle (or SK) playing/starting 8th graders. I do not think it will pay dividends as a whole down the road. The 8th grade boys that are playing up have the talent to do so, but I can't see it developing a program for the long haul. I'm sure there are plenty who feel that you need to play your best players as this isn't rec league anymore, but its freshman football, not varsity.
