September 27, 201214 yr I always loved Chez Nora back in the day, and the outdoor tables have a great feel to them. I don't know if they changed the name or what, but there was always this place in Mt. Adams I loved to go to that had a great river overlook. I thought it was called the Mt. Adams Pub, but it's been 10+ years since I've been there, so it may be called something else now. May be the Mt. Adams Bar and Grill now, judging by the location I saw on the maps. I'm pretty sure it was on Hatch, but the virtual tour doesn't look much like the place I recall. It has been more than 10 years, though.
September 27, 201214 yr Ha! I find that a guy appreciates a girl who knows knows how to catch a deal every now again. Oh, and the fact that I actually make sure to take turns planning (and paying) for date night rather than expecting the guy pay all the time? Well, that's just icing on the cake! You are going to make some lucky man a fine catch. I bet you like sports to don't you?:ylsuper:
September 27, 201214 yr CWB Go-To Date Spots: -Chez Nora Rooftop -York Street Cafe -Otto's -Lavomatic -Senate -Melt -Buona Vita A little more detail, now that I've got a few minutes to elaborate: I haven't been to Chez Nora since they updated their menu most recently, but they had an awesome creole trout dish there that I used to get regularly. I'd suggest going on a night where you can catch Ricky Nye. The rooftop seating is pretty awesome. York Street Cafe...the entire menu is fantastic, but I usually get their Amish chicken dish. The pork tenderloin is solid as well. This is the best first date restaurant in greater Cincinnati. Hands down. Otto's, I really like the shrimp and grits. I have a hard time not getting that, but my fiance really likes the flank steak. Lavomatic...GOTTA get the bourbon pork chop. It's also kind of impressive as a little gem stuck in the middle of OTR. They have really cool rooftop seating here, for what it's worth. Senate...get whatever the special is that day. Period. Then go hit up Japp's, Neon, or MOTR for drinks afterwards. Melt...I go with the Hofner roast beef sandwich or the Tuscan chicken sandwich. This is a more casual environment. You can follow up the evening at the Northside Tavern or The Comet with GOOD beer and some live music. Buona Vita...everything on the menu is great - literally. 75center is right, it can be a little on the loud side, so it might not be such a great plan for a first date unless you're going on a weeknight. Went on a date to The Celestial for the first time this past February to celebrate a special occasion. It's really good, but it's a kind of pricey and a little more swanky than your average "hey, let's go out on a date" kind of place. I can't believe I forgot Arnold's in Cincinnati. Arnold's is a one-stop complete date night and comes in a close second to the York Street Cafe as best date place in my book. They have VERY solid food there...the Italian/Greek dishes are by far the best. They also have live music out in the (really cool) courtyard. Be sure you check out the calendar before you go though - when Jake Speed or the Dancing Pigs are playing, it's usually standing room only. Scotti's...it's been around for over 100 years, so it's GOTTA be good, right? It's a reeeeeally cool little place. Foods fantastic, but a little on the pricey side for Italian. And beware...if the menu says something is hot, it's HOT.
September 27, 201214 yr I also always enjoyed Allyn's Cafe in the Columbia-Tusculum area. Great food and a cool atmosphere.
September 27, 201214 yr Author Big thanks to everyone for some great suggestions. I've heard of or been to some of the ideas, and agree they are great places. But, as I hoped, I've now got a stable full of places I haven't been to or heard about. CWB, thanks for the in-depth post on some of your favorites. I had questions about nearly every place on your list. Couple questions for anyone that can help. Do they serve a full menu on rooftop tables at Chez? I'd like to take advantage of the weather if possible, but we she and I will both be coming straight from work, so dining is a must. What more can anyone tell me about York St. Cafe? CWB thinks highly of it. Is Bella Luna somewhat casual, or is it more of an "intimate" type of date place? I'm looking for more of a relaxing, type place. Thanks BGP nation and please keep em coming.

CWB thinks highly of it. The building is interesting and eclectic - it's a 130 year old pharmacy building, and it still features the original pharmacists shelves/drawers (see pictures on webpage). The beer selection is alright, but they have a very good wine selection, good coffee, and some interesting alcoholic coffee drinks. There's a nice little outdoor patio/deck as well. Service is good, and the menu is fantastic. There's really just something about the place in general that makes it very interesting and a great date spot.
September 27, 201214 yr Forgot about Arnolds. Good place to go. Lots of regulars. Not sure if Arnolds falls into the "not too loud" category. When I was there with my daughter it was really, really loud.
September 28, 201214 yr Fairly new place the wife and I have hit a couple of times is Django Western Taco in Northside. Laid back atmosphere and the food is excellent...
September 28, 201214 yr Not sure if Arnolds falls into the "not too loud" category. When I was there with my daughter it was really, really loud. It depends ENTIRELY on what band (if any) is playing when you go.
