I caught the last half of the game and it was like watching college athletes out there.

 

IC's QB threw a nice ball and Dawkins/Quick are just burners.

Random thoughts after watching the game on ESPN2:

 

Gut feeling but I think Trinity was better last year.

Dawkins had a nice game.

Trinity does a good job spreading the ball around on offense.

I did think the Trinity QB had an average game but Cathedral did a good job pressuring him.

Cathedral is a really well coached and a kick tail high school football team.

Hatcher is a manchild but he doesn't always give 100%. Anyone that DVRed the game I challenge you to watch him on every play and disagree with me. I was really disappointed in his lack of motor at times but again when he gave 100% he was a man among boys.

Cincy X beating Moeller just means Cincy X and Colerain are really really good. And, Moeller will still be a legit threat to beat the Rocks.

ESPN definitely was not using their top announcers and camera operators but overall having a high school game in HD is awesome!

Trinity's defense really has stepped up the last two weeks and I am very happy to see it. Hatcher can dominate an offense when he wants to, I actually felt bad for the QB last night on a few occasions.

 

We need to work on penalties, now there were a number of bad calls against the Rocks early in the game and into the 3rd quarter but they kind of trailed off in the 4th and there were a few non calls on the Rocks that could have been HUGE calls that I think balanced things out a bit. Even so the Rocks need to work on penalties, big time.

 

I am still shocked to see the WRs drop so many passes. There were a few drops that were complete drive killers.

Appeared to be an excellent test to prepare for the Xaverians. Cathedral is VERY well coached. Their QB is D-1 caliber and tough as nails. Some of the punishment he was taking - and getting back up from - was mind-boggling. Still, he had the same issues with overthrowing receivers and throwing a hot ball on short routes as last year. He will be much more successful in college with kids who can run and catch bullets. Anyone know where he is headed?

According to the CJ 8 penalties for 89 yards against the Rocks last night and 1 for 17 against Cathedral. HUGE disparity. We need to work on that.

Nothing egregious. I'm not saying that all the calls were correct, though. That's just the way it goes sometimes. No big deal IMO.

That was more my complaint really.

The non-call on the pass interference in the end zone was absurd. It cost Trinity a sure TD. When they showed the replay on the big screen the ref shook his head as the (larger then Cathedral) Trinity crowd booed.

I believe it has been that way every time that we have played in Indiana... I just re-watched the game about an hour ago.....very, very suspect.

I'm going to say this in defense (somewhat) of the officials. There were a couple of more calls they could have been made (players celebrating and a roughing the punter jump to mind) that they didn't make. I don't know that there was home cooking but I do feel like Trinity was under a microscope and were called tighter.
