Cincy St. X might be the third or fourth best team in Ohio and have nothing to hang their heads down about as they hung with not only the best team in Kentucky, but one of the better teams in the nation.

You realize that when SK scores the next time against Trinity it will be the first time they score against Trinity right?

This was a slobberknocker. Both Ds stepped up their games I really have to question, but thank, X for going for it on 4th and goal. The way points were being scored in that game ANYTHING on the board would have been huge and X has a huge kicker.

I can finally speak again. The adrenaline rush has finally worn off. I felt we were very lucky to be tied at halftime. X did the best thing for themselves, keeping our offense off the field and never allowing us to get momentum. I think one thing this game showed that, although Quick gets most of the chatter, the value of Dawkins is immeasurable. Hats off to our Defense. They weren't quite "with it" first half, but REALLY stepped it up second half. I was extraordinarily impressed with the second half red zone stops. Simply put, I was amazed. I left the game feeling a lot like I did after the '02 Male game ...I am so glad I didn't miss this one...it was special. X is huge and very, very good.

 

Side note....LT's striped socks cracked me up. Couldn't stop being amused by those and his obvious "in-tuness" with the drum line were so much fun to me.

 

Great crowd and atmosphere! Absolutely, I am glad I made this one!

After X intercepted the tipped pass and returned it to the T 12 yard line late in the 3rd, I believe I'm correct i saying that Trinity's defense held for 8 straight plays without a score. T's defense was given terrible field position for almost of the second half (including the pick and a 16 yard punt) but gave up only 2 FG's. Their D continues to struggle against the pass but has improved considerably against the run. Onward to Indy.

Dawkins being gimpy accounted for a lot of it.

Not only was Dawkins not 100% but Reggie Bonofon didn't even dress. People forget what an asset he is. Takes pressure off of James Quick who was nearly trippled teamed all night. Trinity's playmakers were basically Wright, Quick and a 80% at best Dawkins.

 

Once again Jason Hatcher was awesome. He was running past the O-line on every play. Had several big sacks. Their QB was basically counting to three and throwing. To X's credit their receivers made some nice shoe top catches and kept on their feet. Trinity was awesome against the run. The play they couldn't stop was what I call the Beechwood play. The behind the line HB pass. Finally on St.X's last drive Bertram blew it up.

 

So glad we won but Coach Specht for X blew it. If you take the FG's you win. Their fans were livid at him afterward. They won everywhere but on the scoreboard.

I am still confused as to why Trinity didn't emphasize the run earlier on. I know that they didn't want to ride Dawkins if they could avoid it since he isn't 100%, but Brooks first carry of the game was a 12 yard or so gain. Why did they stop giving him the ball early?

 

Dawkins was still amazing in the 4th quarter, you could tell though that he was not fully healed. He didn't make the kind of cuts he normally does and he seemed to have a bit less of a spring in his step during his runs. I really hope that he gets better soon. Not having Dawkins there lets teams key in on Quick and that can cause problems.

I concur, Specht had a great gameplan on O and D but the lack of the FG on the 2 and then calling that timeout prior to the last play was surprising. I remember when they called the T.O. after spiking the ball I was so very confused. He basically forced them to go for a TD when a FG could have won it if they had moved a little closer.
