Sobering statistic

Please let me know your point then. To not be against abortion is to support it would be my statement.

Where did I say I was for abortion? Or even not against abortion? My point is that voting alone won't prevent abortion. I'm advocating grassroots involvement in the issue. Not protests, but involvement and interaction with women considering abortion. Effecting change within one's communities to offer support of keeping the child and helping women in the decision to keep or give up her child for adoption. I'm talking about mentoring....being there every step of the way for her...not preaching but teaching.

Funny, as I would call teaching-education.

Now be kind enough and read my post #71 in this thread towards you and see if i was not spot on.

That's always the liberal mamby pamby answer. We have sex-ed in many of the high schools now, and yet there are abortions by the score. If you aren't sure what causes a pregnancy, then you are probably not ready for sexual intercourse. And there are consequences to an action, and it's not like there aren't examples in every community or even on tv to teach. Abortion is wrong. Plain and simple.

You still don't get it. And you never will.

And you must have or you wouldn't defend......told you it would be education and that was your answer. Smack dab right in the face for all to see.

What?! I am not talking school, friend. You. Don't.Get.It.

No you want community service out there with outreach paid for by whom? Or do you want these gals to go it alone, or are you talking about families, or churches? Any way you cut it, it is about education, as I said you would say from the beginning.

I could care a less where the "teaching", not preaching comes from, it doesn't work. So then, the easy "solution" is to abort the child.

No. I want individual involvement on a volunteer basis. No, it's not about education in the way you mean. And I know what I am describing works MUCH more effectively than preaching. But you have to give of your time...often a lot of it.

I am sure you would agree then the teaching should take place before "the act".

FWIW, I had a very close friend of mine die, because she had to make a choice, abort her child (of a planned pregnancy with her husband) or continue to carry the child and face a 75% more chance of death her self. She choose to carry the child and take her chances, and 2 lives were lost.

That would be one instance I'd have to take the child's life. I'm sorry for that loss plantman.

I admire her for doing what she believed was best and I'm sorry for the loss. This would be a horrific decision to make, I can tell you left up to me I would be with Spindoc but I feel certain my wife would have taken her chances. Like Spindoc said this is the one instance were I think it's justified. I am absolutley against abortion as a way to control the global population. I thought the statistics were sobering but some of the responses in this thread are way past sobering.

Not once have I advocated "abortion as a way to control global population." No one else in this thread has, either. All we've done is point out to you "pro-lifers" what this world would look like if we did have all those extra people, something that no anti-abortion advocate ever seems to want to honestly address. Instead you guys make jokes about Jacksonville's population density and such, totally ignoring the reality of the situation.

I wish no one ever got an abortion. It's awful to even think about. But they happen, and they'll continue to happen whether it's legal or illegal. Now, be honest: How do you legitimately deal with the problem of all the extra people, were you to get your way and abortion rates plummet?

I asked the question if I was reading it correctly that some, not you in particular, was advocation abortion as a way to control global population and not one person said no, not one.

And to answer you question and this is the 3rd time I have answered the same question. I have no idea, never thought about it and don't feel qualified.

I am sure you would agree then the teaching should take place before "the act".

She is saying that people that are against abortion, like YOU and ME, need to realize that making abortions illegal won't stop them...that people, like YOU and ME, need to get involved as volunteers to work with girls/women making these decisions, as support throughout their pregnancy. People like YOU and ME need to put our money where our mouth is.
