I know this is a HS softball board but seeing Lawnboy is such a valuable member I wanted to pass on a congrats to him for being inducted into the Softball City Hall of Fame this coming Sat. It doesn't take much to get inducted I think all you have to do is either know one of the Dixon's, be a drunk or spend way to much time up there. Not sure which one Lawnboy falls under but what the heck, congrats!!

Probably all three...but he was a pretty good ball player too!

This is definitely true. I'd go up there early in the hope that some team was short a player so I could get an extra game in before my team played. Those were the days, man I miss playing.

I'm not so happy for Lawnboy as I am for myself. Now I can rip on his big brother about how his little brother is a better athlete than him!!

Congrats Lawnboy on your up coming induction. Back in the day I spent most of my time up at Softball City. It was the place to be if you loved the game. The refreshments and chicken wings also played a big part. Congrats again. JD

I will agree with everyone that those days playing at the softball complexes in the area were fun times. As I read the posts on here in a couple of current threads, I wonder how many of the BGP posters on here played games against each other in those times. I am thinking it is quite a few. And we all have that trophy or two or Championship T-shirt that allows us to say we were "great" ... Glory Days .... :lol: Now Lawnboy has a bigger trophy that he can trump the story tellers with. So take that the next time you try to tell him about that 4 HR game you had.

I remember playing in a big tournament there in the early 90's, getting beat out around 3:00 on a Sunday and heading back to Warsaw. After getting cleaned up, a handful of us said, heck let's head back to Softball City, catch the final few games (the finals were around 9:00), eat some wings, and hang out. Those were the days!

It is actually his younger brother who I get to pick on. He less talented brother also commented "I didn't know they would let a slap hitting non Fielding player into the hall"

I want to be at that next family function.
