Moe is so much better then C town its unreal right now sorry

You're joking, right? Highlands and CovCath want nothing to do with Colerain during the regular season. They won't play the Cards, plain and simple.

With the Harbin system Highlands and CovCath have more value to Colerain than Ryle does. The Ryle game is a glorified exhibition for Colerain, Ryle may lost 3-4 games after it. Colerain has nothing to gain against Ryle and hopefully nobody gets injured.

Ryle will be lucky to get the ball across midfield tomorrow night. Good luck Ryle!

We may be surprised. I'll be tuned in to see tonight. Not gonna lie, I'm finding myself pulling for Ryle the longer this thread goes on.

For the life of me I cannot understand why Colerain would ever want to schedule Ryle. I think it speaks loudly of how poor the leadership at the top of the Colerain football program currently is and for this vary reason the gap between the top GCL schools and Colerain will continue to widen.

Ryle will have a tough time getting on the scoreboard tonight.

Why?

Why is it ok for CovCath to schedule Moeller, a school 2x their size but Ryle shouldn't schedule Colerain, a school SMALLER than them and also public?

Explain your comment, please.

Colerain is much larger than Ryle. Check the numbers. The student populations aren't even close.

Colerains 2012 schedule;

Ryle

St. X

Princeton

Sycamore

Mason

Middletown

Fairfield

Lakota West

Oakhills

Only one GCL South team, just like Highlands and Cov-Cath.

Is this the year that Colerain wins their second state title ?

Ryle could only score 6 points on Cooper there is no way they score on Colerain.

Because, quite frankly, Ohio football is the major leagues , and except for 3 or 4 programs in the state, Kentucky is not. Kentucky athletic identity is basketball not football. You just do not have the tradition and history of football here in KY that exists in Ohio. Ryle is still a relatively young school (about 20 years old) , and they have only been competitive for about the last 6.

IMO Ryle or most any other school should be playing Cov. Cath and Highlands even before playing the elite Ohio programs.

Please do some research before you start making comments like this. Plenty of "tradition and history" in football within the state of Ky. As a matter of fact, there are three schools ranked in the top ten winningnest high school football programs in the U.S. If my memory serves me correctly, Ohio had just two.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that scheduling should be consistent with the level of development of your program. First play Cov. Cath and Highlands even (for a prolonged period of time, which Ryle has not yet done) then schedule the Ohio powers.

That logic makes more sense. That's why I posed it as a question, as opposed to statement. If that is how you feel, I agree. Get comfortable stepping up the chain as opposed to taking on Goliath from day one.

Not everyone will agree with that thinking, but I at least understand your point of view.

Didn't highlands just play Colerain a few years ago?

Yes. 2008. After that, Highlands has chosen not to schedule Colerain again, despite attempts from Colerain to do so.

And if memory serves correctly i was told from a reliable coach that these teams usually sign contracts to play a year or two. After playing one team once or twice, wouldn't you want your open games in your schedule to have a little variety?

Don't know. I'm not a coach or AD. I guess if you have the luxury of picking and choosing who you get to play every year with a plethora of options, you can go that route. For Colerain, they don't have that luxury. They struggle to get games every year.

Yes, Colerain is good. But Highlands or any of the KY teams for that matter should not keep scheduling the same Ohio team over and over. What does that prove. It makes you one dimensional and then you start playing to beat that kind of team. But what if that's not the kind of team you'll be seeing in the playoffs in KY? Then you've wasted a game on a team that isn't helping you get ready but maybe will put a handful of guys one the shelf dinged up for a few weeks.

I don't understand how Highlands theoretically scheduling the same Ohio team every year makes them any more one dimensional than if they schedule the same KY team every year (i.e. CovCath). And why are you worried about guys getting dinged up for a few weeks? Can't injuries happen at anytime? I mean, I tried to make that argument two years ago when Highlands beat St. Xavier but they lost their QB for the season. I was roasted on here when I suggested that maybe if Highlands didn't play a team like St. Xavier, they would not be as susceptible to an injury. So which is it?

Teams should not schedule above their heads unless they want to get blown out each week. Am I saying that people shouldn't schedule Colerain or or bigger Ohio teams, no. But think about the talent you have while scheduling your opponents.

We agree. Which is why I understand why Highlands and CovCath don't want to schedule Colerain. They don't match up will against the Cardinals.

In my opinion, Colerain is over-hyped and they just don't seem to be as exciting for me to watch as say an Elder, Moeller, or X. But don't say they are scared or refuse. Dale, nor B. Warner, nor whomever Has been at the helm all the way back to Lynn Ray have never backed down from playing a good team when they have a good team. That is just untrue and an attempt to stir the pot!

As a public school, Colerain is consistently one of the top 3 in the state of Ohio every year. NO ONE beats the 3CL (Elder, Moeller & St. X) as consistently as Colerain...no one. If you don't like their style of play, that's fine. Many don't because they believe you have to have a "balanced offense" to win in High School. That is proven wrong all the time but folks still believe it for whatever reason.

Good conversation FTBIGBIRD. Thanks for the comments.

Sorry, I was going to let this go but I couldn't.

IN the last five meetings vs. Moeller, all in the playoffs, Colerain is 5-0. If you are trying to make some sort of comment insuinating that Colerain would not fare well against Moeller, I am here to tell you that you couldn't be more wrong. The Cardinals might now win as Moeller clearly seems to be the class of Cincy at this very early stage of the season, but it would not be nearly the beat down you are inferring.

Untrue. Ryle will have success moving the football and I would not be shocked at all to see them score multiple touchdowns.

Clearly, you don't understand the inner workings of High School athletics. Colerain AND Ryle get more out of this agreement than just Football. Colerain and Ryle played each other in both Boys and Girls basketball last year as well. In addition, soccer, baseball and softball matchups are trying to be planned out as well. It's an opportunity for both schools to fill their boys AND GIRLS programs with a comparable opponent. Ryle beat Colerain last year in every other contest they played, except football and basketball. Seems to be working out fine for both programs.

The gap is going to continue to widen between Colerain and the GCL, but it has absolutely nothing to do with "leadership."
