How can anyone NOT pick the Cards in this one? Really don't see UK having a chance in this one. Should be fun, looking forward to this one in person.

Just trying to be realistic. I think these two programs are heading in opposite directions honestly. For the life of me, I don't understand it either.

Honest question for you.........in your opinion, can someone be a fan of one sport at a college or do you have to be a fan of all the sports at that school? I became a huge fan of UK basketball in the mid to late 70's and have loved them every since. However, UK football is not what drew me in to become a UK fan, it was the basketball team. I do love college football and like other college football teams better than UK. Should I feel an obligation to root for UK Football just because I "bleed blue" for the basketball team? Thanks.

I don't think you should feel like you have an obligation to be a fan of the football team. Do you feel you would be a bigger fan of the football team if they had the anywhere close to the success that basketball team has had? Is it just the poor performances year after year they have kept you from becoming a bigger football fan?

I'm a fan of both UK football & basketball. I'll always be a die-hard basketball fan, mainly because basketball is my favorite sport. At the same time, it's been easier to be a UK basketball fan than a football fan, so success does have something to do with it.

 

And I think you can be a fan of whomever you want to be a fan of. I know a lot of UK basketball fans who are football fans of other programs & it's hard to blame them.

It's not limited to just the poor performances on the field. It also carries over to off the field issues for me. Why did they go with the "coach in waiting" method for hiring a new coach? I am not a proponent of this whatsoever. I feel like UK has the resources to have one of the top notch coaches in the game and have the facilities to match. It just seems to me that the administration is not thinking this thing thru and doing a half "you know what" job while settling for mediocrity. How much does Cal make? 4MM plus?? How much does Joker make? Until they get serious about winning on the football field, they will not have my allegiance. Pay the right coach and let him do his thing. They (powers at be) make it very difficult to be a UK Football fan.

Comes with the territory given how college football is set up. I know lots of UofL fans that are fans of other football teams. Granted, Louisville has been far outside the big time of college football for a long time while UK's been in the SEC for decades, but the idea is basically the same given their lack of competitiveness on the national stage over the years.

 

I like to give people I know a hard time about it (especially those who like UK Basketball and a football team that's consistently in the mix for a national championship), but I have two teams, so in the end, who am I to judge?

I've been going to UK games since I was a kid around 1980. This is the least I've ever looked forward to games. I've dreaded this season and felt like they will get waxed by Louisville even though Louisville plays a HORRIBLE schedule! The closer this game gets the more I'm starting to feel like this will be a better game than I felt like all summer. Everybody is down on UK and high on Louisville. The cockiness is coming out. It's still SEC speed that plays teams WAY better than Louisville week in week out. I think Louisville is going in the right direction and KY is going in the wrong direction. Don't feel the upset yet but don't feel the -14 now either. Anything is possible. I think the Cards win in a tougher than expected game.
