I never saw Highlands stop Boyle from running. I saw Boyle have to abandon the run and have to throw and play catch up. Boyle ran down to the Highlands 25 yard line and dropped back to pass and fumbled on the sack. Execution. Scott County can run and throw and is overall better than Boyle on offense. Not as one dimensional. If Scott County can control the flow of the game it is their game for the taking.

I'm intrigued to see how much better the run defense can get. As Run To State said,"those holes are so big a truck could run through them." And most of the big yards were from a receiver who never played a down of running back in any game I have ever seen him play let alone a varsity game against a team of Highlands caliber. Scott County should have a field day.

If Scott County wins I would not consider it an upset but I will ask the question.

I don't see it as a upset if Scott Co wins either. I have picked Scott Co to win in the contests.

PP92 - many people made similar predictions about Johnson Central's running game the past few years. JJ Jude was one of the best backs in KY history. Why will Scott County have more success than JC?

I think coaching takes over in this one along with home field advantage. I take Dale Mueller in this game. Highlands will win!

I haven't looked at Highlands schedule yet. Is this their toughest schedule in a while? Has to be two of their toughest first two weeks in a while isn't it?

Defintely should be a tougher test than last Friday.

Yes it will!

Because there are different people playing defense this Friday night. Did you watch Boyle County run all over them last Friday night with 3 new running backs and 5 new offensive linemen? I did and I think Scott County is better than Boyle County.

I see Scott County lining up, spreading Highlands out, and running right at them until they prove they can stop it.

Is this the type of offense that Scott County runs? The style that I have seen from them is to get to the edge and use their speed.

I think they run the Wing T so you sound right. They may change it up though. They should. Pound the middle.

How much better at pounding the middle can you get in one week?

Fair question. I'd hope they have some plays that attack the middle. Surely they aren't as good as they are on sweep left and sweep right.

Just stay tuned. This will be interesting, to say the least.
Simple execution on Boyle County's part and it's a whole new conversation about the game last Friday. Simple execution. Not platooning.

PP, it's tougher to execute simple plays later in the game when you've played both ways the whole game. You can't say it wasn't a factor. They were flat-footed by the end of the 3rd.

In the event you have not had the opportunity to watch the game film, Boyle did not score a point when HHS's first D-line/LB's were in the game. That is from start to finish. In the second half HHS tightened up that rotation. The results followed. One would think that HHS would have realized this and conintue with the tighter rotation. The one time Boyle made it to the redzone in the second half, they got there against a combo of the 2nd/3rd rotation. HHS brought the 1st teamers in on 3rd down and Boyle was tackled for a loss...forced to try a FG. Just say'n. Good luck to Boyle the rest of the season. Hope to see them again in the playoffs.

Go Birds! Beat Cardinal!!

Highlands is better than they "looked" last Friday. How many times have we seen a test at the beginning of the year make everyone start questioning their ability. If a coach says he's got a talented team and he's won ten titles, I'm going to believe him until he proves otherwise. Yes, I have drank the Kool-Aid but I've not abandoned reality. Here is my assessment of Friday. They have so much talent that they wanted to slot as many if them in there as they could to evaluate their ability. In the second half, they just played to win. The truth is, I thought BC would have had more guys. I only counted like 50 guys on the roster insert in my program and a handful on the sideline in street clothes. Yes Scott County will be a formidable foe but also think of the mental aspect of this game this week. Highlands beat Boyle last year and has had their number for a few since that exhibition at state where BC crushed HHS. They have never played Scott County and the fact that SC made it to state in the highest division says they are not to be taken lightly. I'm just thinking that maybe some guys weren't really worried as they should have been last week. To all the doubters: the birds can and will adjust this week to show you the team Dale promised. He hasn't let us down yet....

The kid I was most impressed with on the DL was the Soph Mills. JMO
