Fair question. I'd hope they have some plays that attack the middle. Surely they aren't as good as they are on sweep left and sweep right.

You also have to give credit to Boyle's qb and backs. They concealed the ball and mixed up the handoffs very well. There were many times I lost the ball for a second and obviously the refs got fooled on at least one play! That style kinda puts you on your heels and isolates people because you cant commit right away. Trying to find the ball on defense is different than lining a guy up and attacking the middle. I think it was Boyle's style that also played into the confusion. If they run outside, that could actually play into HHS favor with their speed. It will interesting to see if they play with their strengths or change it up to attack the perceived weakness of HHS

Highlands is better than they "looked" last Friday. How many times have we seen a test at the beginning of the year make everyone start questioning their ability. If a coach says he's got a talented team and he's won ten titles, I'm going to believe him until he proves otherwise. Yes, I have drank the Kool-Aid but I've not abandoned reality. Here is my assessment of Friday. They have so much talent that they wanted to slot as many if them in there as they could to evaluate their ability. In the second half, they just played to win. The truth is, I thought BC would have had more guys. I only counted like 50 guys on the roster insert in my program and a handful on the sideline in street clothes. Yes Scott County will be a formidable foe but also think of the mental aspect of this game this week. Highlands beat Boyle last year and has had their number for a few since that exhibition at state where BC crushed HHS. They have never played Scott County and the fact that SC made it to state in the highest division says they are not to be taken lightly. I'm just thinking that maybe some guys weren't really worried as they should have been last week. To all the doubters: the birds can and will adjust this week to show you the team Dale promised. He hasn't let us down yet....

Bet on this, Scott County will not be winded this week. It will be a good ole goodin. Showdown at the Hoedown.

Mios for Happy Hour again?

The kid I was most impressed with on the DL was the Soph Mills. JMO

Really? You know the family? You should watch the film then. Kid works hard, but young. He will be a good one, but will take time. I believe that he, more than some, will continue to see time.

In the event you have not had the opportunity to watch the game film, Boyle did not score a point when HHS's first D-line/LB's were in the game. That is from start to finish. In the second half HHS tightened up that rotation. The results followed. One would think that HHS would have realized this and conintue with the tighter rotation. The one time Boyle made it to the redzone in the second half, they got there against a combo of the 2nd/3rd rotation. HHS brought the 1st teamers in on 3rd down and Boyle was tackled for a loss...forced to try a FG. Just say'n. Good luck to Boyle the rest of the season. Hope to see them again in the playoffs.

Go Birds! Beat Cardinal!!

Anyway to know what the yards per carry were in the first half versus the second half. Total yards wouldnt tell the story because they went to a passing game when they got behind, but I would like to know what the yards per carry comparison was.

Be there or be square. Less in tow this week. Whack'em going to make it? I'll purchase the first frosted refreshment for the BGP'ers if you show up... Come on whack'em. I'll have my twin little FTBIGBIRDS in tow. Bring the Lil Whack 'em.

Yes, and yes I met his Dad during the Trinity game for first time, nice fella and darn good athlete when he was at Newport. Kid has high motor and was inserted into a big game and produced. That to me shows he is ready for Varsity action but playing JV will make him an even better player. Bright future. He is really the only one that looked like he was hard to move. The other guys are pretty fast and athletic but were getting moved off the ball.

I dont watch game films like coaches and parents of players so it sounds like you are a parent of a player and have a little better advantage than most of us. Keep us posted on what you see.

PP, it's tougher to execute simple plays later in the game when you've played both ways the whole game. You can't say it wasn't a factor. They were flat-footed by the end of the 3rd.

The game was over halfway through the 3rd. After Jalen Hayes' beautiful 80 yard run as Dave Chappelle would say....'that's a wrap!!!!'

2 miss handled kickoffs and 2 fumbles in the first 6:00 of the 3rd quarter. The second fumble came after our qb didn't tuck the ball away and still tried to make a play while being dragged to the ground. Execution. The first fumble came when the qb and RB ran into each other on the handoff. Execution. 2 miss handled kickoffs resulting in poor field position? Execution.

Could have sworn Boyle scored on every possession in the first half. Could be wrong though. I'm getting older. I don't remember punting until the 2nd half. Again, could be wrong.

I'd love to know it for individual players for Boyle also. Don't qb sacks take away from rushing yardage? Seph Burke rushed for 63 yards in the second half. After the score was 35-24 Boyle pretty much abandoned the run.

As I said, if we were tired immediately following a 15-20 minute break then we have HUGE issues.

I'm jealous. I need to move to NKY.

Come on PP, you have to know that playing a hard first half, both ways, against a good team will not allow you to recover in a half time intermission. The body doesn't work that way. Being tired, and knowing you're tired are two different things.

Just seems like a lame excuse to me. Well, we were tired so we couldn't catch kickoffs, execute running plays properly because of running in the wrong direction(kid that ran in the wrong direction lined up at RB for the first time in the game) and tuck the ball away when being dragged down by two guys bigger than our qb. Yeah, too tired. And according to Highlands folks they finally decided to play their best defensive players in the 2nd half. I'd rather say Highlands was the better team than say we got too tired to win the game. Too tired sounds horrible.
