In the event you have not had the opportunity to watch the game film, Boyle did not score a point when HHS's first D-line/LB's were in the game. That is from start to finish. In the second half HHS tightened up that rotation. The results followed. One would think that HHS would have realized this and conintue with the tighter rotation. The one time Boyle made it to the redzone in the second half, they got there against a combo of the 2nd/3rd rotation. HHS brought the 1st teamers in on 3rd down and Boyle was tackled for a loss...forced to try a FG. Just say'n. Good luck to Boyle the rest of the season. Hope to see them again in the playoffs.

The field goal was in the first half. After halftime Boyle didn't score again until there was 1:05 left in the game and when Highlands JV was in the game against Boyle's first team.

 

We have to beat LexCath first and their passing game is going to be deadly.

Just seems like a lame excuse to me. Well, we were tired so we couldn't catch kickoffs, execute running plays properly because of running in the wrong direction(kid that ran in the wrong direction lined up at RB for the first time in the game) and tuck the ball away when being dragged down by two guys bigger than our qb. Yeah, too tired. And according to Highlands folks they finally decided to play their best defensive players in the 2nd half. I'd rather say Highlands was the better team than say we got too tired to win the game. Too tired sounds horrible.

Of course, you would be better prepared to run a mile after running 100 yards versus just finishing running two miles. That is the difference. If you are playing both ways, you are running a marathon, if you are playing one way, you are running, resting, running, resting, running, resting.

I understand your logic. I guess because only one mishap was forced when the wheels fell off it's hard for me to see fatigue being a factor at that point. Fatigue was a factor trying to mount a comeback but not when the wheels fell off. IMO.

Back to the game, if Scott Co. runs a true Wing-T, they should save their counters and misdirections for very special situations. Outside runs and delayed action in the backfield plays to Highlands strength. Also, Scott Co was runner up, but only bc X and T have to eliminate one another to get there. Let's not kid ourselves. Two teams from up here we have seen two teams benefit from a similar path to the playoffs only to get destroyed by T.

I understand, but I've seen a Simon Kenton team and Ryle make it to the same place that Scott County did. I thought that both of those teams were the 2nd best teams in NKY that year, not the second best teams in the state at its highest classification. Simple execution on Boyle County's part and it's a whole new conversation about the game last Friday. Simple execution. Not platooning.

 

Not true. Highlands gives up a little by not playing their best available players going two-ways. In the second half their whole team was fresh which makes a big difference. Boyle outscored Highlands by 9 in the first half. Highlands scored 37 in the second half. Boyle scored 7 against the 2's of Highlands. Blame whatever you want to when Boyle had stuff go wrong, look at what Highlands did when they had stuff go wrong. Adjustments were the biggest difference in this game.

Dumphord 1209 yards/20td's

Edwards 677 yards /7td's

 

Wide Reciever stat from last year

 

Daniel 48 catches 971 yards 9 TD'S (BURNER)

Last year 14-1 , only loss to Trinity in state finals.

 

Defensively they have 2 great D lineman and one great DE.

#3(6A) Scott County travels to Fort Thomas to take on #1(4A) Highlands this Friday night.

 

 

Scott County defeated Seneca 46-14 last week and Highlands hosted and defeated Boyle County 52-31 last week.

 

I'll take Scott County in the upset. I've heard nothing but good things about this team and its future. If they get film from last Friday the blueprint to beat Highlands is there. I'm not sold Highlands is as good as they are accustomed to being. I'm not sold they'll win 4A. They look vulnerable to me. Back to reality part one starts Friday.
