Seemed to me that when #65 of Dixie went down with an injury, so did Dixie!

I guess that means that the kids from Dixie were out of shape like they had been with Spritzky. I would be shocked if a team coached by Dave Brossart was out of shape.

No. They're very young. Very few seniors that play. Sophomore QB. They are trying to two-platoon with only a lineman or two playing both ways. They were in this game until this end. They scored with a little under 4 to play. NCC was faced with a 3 and long, and they converted on a long qb scramble as the LB and safeties got caught inside with just over a minute to go. Dixie expected NCC to kneel the ball, and they ended up handing it off for a TD, making the score look worse than it was.

 

They never quit, and they weren't sucking wind at the end like in the past. The Moore kid looked OK in his first varsity start. He took his first play 79 yards for a TD, and after that, the offense stalled until the 2nd half. He can definitely make plays with his feet. He he made some really nice throws. Doesn't have a strong arm, but he can get the job done. The o-line struggled early, especially the starting center on shotgun snaps. They got better as the game went on.

 

I'm still not a fan of the 3 down lineman unless your NT is a stud and needs double and triple teams. 5 yards was a given on almost every hand-off, except when Milligan was in there, as the guards could easily get to the 2nd level as the center can take on the NT. The DBs are small, but young. Hayes just ran all over them. A LOT of missed tackles, which would be 'same-old' Dixie, along with their kick-off coverage, which was atrocious.

 

The sidelines looked well organized with the coaches meeting with the lines or entire offense/defense while the other was on the field. A lot of coaching appeared to take place on the sidelines instead of yelling. It's going to be a long year. There are a lot of young guys playing, but they seem to have a large sophomore class in both talent and size. They also have some very talented juniors. If these kids buy-in, then 2013 and 2014 will be interesting to see how they progress.

Let's focus on the game, we can discuss the overall coaching for Dixie in another thread.

Boys and Girls, the only time Dixie was in this game was when they scored on their 1st play, a 79 yd QB keeper, after that it was the Dylan Hayes Show. NewCath's Hayes scores 4 td's, including a 56 yd free kick return following a safety. He also picks off a pass deep in Newcath territory.

However, I said it before and will probably say it again, but the NewCath kicking game is "PATHETIC". They better find a soccer player to care of the kicking game, because what they have now is not going to get it done. Sooner or later this will come back to "bite" them. :puke:

DHHS was just 8 down late in the 4th with a chance at getting the ball back inside NewCath's 30 if the Colonels get a stop. Don't know how you can say they weren't in the game until that point.

Let me correct my earlier post. If Dixie could have gotten a stop on NewCath inside the Breds 30 late in the 4th, Dixie could have gotten the ball back with less than two minutes left. So they weren't out of the game until NewCath's big conversion at that point.

A friend who was at the game and who is a twitter king told me a former NewCath player who is now at another school (and his new school had a game last night) was for some reason at the NewCath game and posting on twitter that he wasnt impressed and his new school is more than ready for the Breds. Why wouldnt he be on the sidelines with his new team?? And how immature is this young man? Good win for the Breds vs a larger school. Sounds like Hayes played like a beast. Tough games before district starts is so important!!

This game sounds like Dylan Hayes put the Breds on his back and carried them to the win. In reading the recaps on the game, I am going to say Dixie was better than I expected in this one. With all the youth and what I was hearing preseason, I wasn't sure that Dixie would challenge NCC and they seem to have done that. That is something you can start to build on a little with a new program and coach. I am interested in seeing how things go there and this wasn't a bad start IMO.

Whomever you are refering to was at his teams game. Probably caught the end of the NCC game since it was a late start and went on longer than normal. He should believe in his new team so I have no problem with the tweets. Most kids use twitter to chat with friends not with the public.

Is the RB for NewCath named Hayes related to the RB for Highlands named Hayes? Both seem to be beasts!!
