Kentucky Recruiting 2014 Edition

Featured Replies

Lot of Kentucky fans getting their hopes up and getting excited after Jahlil Okafor stated at the Boo Williams EYBL event this weekend him and Tyus Jones are still 99.9% a package deal.

Well, I got news for any with the same line of thought, don't be. Look for maybe a Cliff Alexander/Mudiay combo instead.....

I found this:

Cliff Alexander drew a lot of coaches to his game on Saturday when his Mac Irvin Fire team took on CP3. The five-star power forward was active on the interior as he led Mac Irvin to a win in front of head coaches from Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina.

One of the most physically dominant players on the Nike circuit, Alexander told media after the game that Kansas, Michigan State, Illinois and Kentucky are standing out, and that all have recently come by for visits.

Also, Alexander hinted heavily that he is considering joining the recruiting tandem of Tyus Jones and five-star center Jahlil Okafor, both of whom have been persistent in saying they'll play together collegiately. Alexander said that both have been working on him to join, and that it is something he's seriously considering.

Stanley Johnson on Cal: "He's really excited about me and he really wants me. ... I feel that (from him) more than a lot of other coaches."

RT @EvanDanielsFOX: One college coach just told me he thinks Emmanuel Mudiay will be the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Hmmmm interesting. It will be an intriguing summer to see who Cal really zero's in on and see how this class is going to unfold. Having Towns already in the stable is a terrific start. Having him essentially means you can miss out on Alexander, Okafor, and other big guys and not really be hurting. Especially considering Wiltjer, Lee, and possibly even Dakari may be back the following season as well. Seems as though Cal has really been on Alexander hard so I have a good feeling he will eventually be a Cat as well. Whether or not that means hes with Okafor and Jones is a very interesting proposition. Either way I expect to at least get Cliff Alexander signed when its all said and done.

2014 Recruit @AndreStoddard tells me he will visit UK at the end of June and will tour the campus, talk with staff, and work out for them.

Yes I thought that was interesting to. Had heard of the other package deal, but this was a new one to me.

The package deal of Jones/Okafor, if it stays together might as well be headed to Duke. Don't forget that Justise Winslow and Theo Pinson were interested in joining this "package deal" as well. It'll be interesting, because think of this, Winslow and Pinson are also very interested in Duke. With Pinson capable of playing SG, that could be a hell of a class. But could it beat a UK class of Karl Towns, Alexander/Lyles, Emmanuel Mudiay, Devin Booker/Rashad Vaughn, Stanley Johnson, and possibly other players? We'll see.

Wiggins' coach says decision by May 15.

My way too early recruiting prediction for 2014. Not considering how many spots may actually end up being available, I think when it's all said and done the Cats will end up with a class that looks like......

Towns

Mudiay

Stanley Johnson

Devin Booker/Rashad Vaughn

Cliff Alexander

With the possibility of another, perhaps Trey Lyles?

That's back to back insane classes if it pans out like that. It's going to be interesting to see who Cal really tries to get after this summer, the 2 spot is going to be something to keep an eye one. Devin Booker, Rashad Vaughn, and De'Angello Russell all have a lot of talent and I would be satisfied with either. In the end I think it comes down to Booker and Vaughn, if Booker does not want to come then it will be Vaughn. Who knows with Cal you may end up with more than one, but 2G is not a position Kentucky has usually had a lot of depth at since Cal has been here so we will see.

Realistically, who returns from next years team to go along with the 2014 class?

Wiltjer

Poytress?

Who else will be back after next season just looking at next years team?

Jahlil Okafor tells me that he had "a great conversation" with John Calipari tonight. Wildcats making their move.

Jahlil Okafor has always maintained to me that he's close w/ K. Towns & comp for PT is more an attraction than a deterrent.
