August 2, 201214 yr It is a damn shame, but we've all read/posted about this stuff happening to kids way too much. I think sometimes young athletes fall victim to this instant gratification society we are in and when things just don't flow quickly, they try to cut corners because it came too easy in the beginning. We also coddle young athletes too much. Pike has been given EVERY opportunity to right his ship, he's received TONS of help along the way. Maybe now his support needs to let him fail. Only he can pull himself out of the hole he's dug. Well Said

Still I think it's a bit of a shock he didn't even really make TO his freshman year. What big time program is going to give him a shot now?? Does he go the JUCO route?? It's shame this has happened, but hopefully this will be the rock bottom he needed to hit in order to get things turned around.
August 2, 201214 yr I'm telling you. Chizik saw this as a way to free up a scholarship. I believe that they were overzealous recruiting Pike when they did and he regretted it. Otherwise, he would have kept Pike on campus.
August 2, 201214 yr Don't be surprised to see Pike try NAIA for a year. If he goes NAIA he can play this year, and Transfer next. I think the other possibility is Ark. State. If this hasn't changed his and his family's attitude toward his indiscretions nothing will. I hope for everyones sake this is his "rock bottom". If not his rock bottom may not just include not playing at an SEC school.

August 4, 201214 yr Is it news that he will be transferring to Louisville? Not sure if it is 100%, but I was told he is transferring to Louisville and playing tight end????
