Zeke Pike Reported to NOT Be Returning to AU...This Year

So does this really mean that he tried to transfer and he would have had to sit out a year?

Not necessarily to the first part.

I think he will have LOI implications if he goes anywhere besides AU at any time.

In any case....I truly do wish him luck. I hope he lands somewhere and makes an impact. Positive impact.

Good luck, Zeke Pike. You're still young enough to right the ship. I hope you do. Good luck.

It's a shame that his kid, as good as he is, throws his career down the drain like it ain't nothing.

It is a damn shame, but we've all read/posted about this stuff happening to kids way too much. I think sometimes young athletes fall victim to this instant gratification society we are in and when things just don't flow quickly, they try to cut corners because it came too easy in the beginning. We also coddle young athletes too much. Pike has been given EVERY opportunity to right his ship, he's received TONS of help along the way. Maybe now his support needs to let him fail. Only he can pull himself out of the hole he's dug.

You seem to be assuming that it was Zeke's call on returning to AU. I don't believe that.

I didn't read that from his post at all.

I didn't read that from his post at all.

I took the "instant gratification....cut corners" line to insinuate it didn't go perfectly so he bailed.

OD75, what did you mean by that?

Wow! What a shame. I wish him nothing but the best. He is still young and only hope that he can still turn it around and come back next year. Good luck to this young man.

I hope he meant that he can "redeem" himself at his choosing perhaps at another university. I thought he meant the instant gratification to mean his off field habits vs. on.

I meant it "generally". I may not have conveyed the point well.

No problem. Obviously, it was just me who took it that way.

Right. Only Zeke can turn it around for Zeke. Whether it's at another college or the rest of his life.
