Probably about right, maybe he can get his head on straight down there if this is in fact the case. Honestly though if that's the case it's really truely just sad, it's not even the start of his first fall semester yet.

2 of his friends from Dixie that I know have said he is not returning to Auburn so that sounds about right.

Going from the SEC to the Sunbelt is a pretty big fall but I understand that Gus is the main reason he'd go to ASU. They open up at Oregon then travel to Lincoln two weeks later.

Wow, Auburn sure made a bad judge of character.

They made a judgement on talent, this may be the first you're hearing of this type of situation because NKY doesn't get a great deal of nationally exposed talent but sadly it does happen all of the time; kids throwing away opportunities others dream of. They made a judgement on talent(which some questioned) and they got burned buy someone lacking some character but this doesn't have to be how it all ends up for Pike he can still turn his life and football career around but he's the only one that can do it. IF he's smart he will put down the bottle and his lighter and pick up some weights and a stop watch and make himself a machine. If he does that he stays out of trouble and betters his himself physically in the process.

I believe this was the best thing for him, but he definitely needs to wisen up. I agree that he still has the opportunity to turn things around as well; guess we will see what happens. It's still a shame to see a blown opportunity in the SEC.

I'll ask the hard question. Should he have been at AKSU anyways? If you're good enough character is overlooked. Transferring before he even stood on the sidelines at Auburn? Sounds to me like he wasn't good enough regardless of his bottle or lighter.

Isn't that where the RB from Auburn (Micheal Dyer) ended up too after being in trouble?

Head coach Gus Malzahn was Auburn's offensive coordinator from 2009-11 before becoming the head coach at Ark. St. He also was one of the main recruiters of Pike to Auburn so he knows him pretty well.

You recruit talent and obviously Pike got into a lot of trouble and had some bad character issues on and off the field, should have been a red flag for AU.

I think that at this point, he should probably focus first and foremost on maintaining recovery from whatever substance use issue he has, and to focus on his academic pursuits. He appears to be at a crossroads regarding which direction his life is going to take. At this time, the odds of him being able to make it to the next level (NFL) in football are probably nil... he now needs to focus on doing things that will serve him well in his adult life. Just my 2 cents...

Anybody see Auburn's Coach on ESPN this morning. The discussion was about a 2 QB race this summer........read into it what you want.
