From what I've read it appears that it was because Dyer had an unregistered gun. Just a case of where the kid had so much talent but decided to waste it.

Dyer was pulled over for speeding. Officer saw a gun and weed in the car. Only wrote the ticket for speeding. Now he's under investigation for his handling of the incident. He knew who Dyer was because he lectured him about screwing up his future.
August 1, 201214 yr Back to Pike....Purdue is no longer an option according to my source. They had commitments to 2 other QB's and it was too big a risk. They loved his talent but didnt want to lose the 2 other QB's as well as take the gamble. Apparently though U of L may now be in the mix according to my U of L contact.
