Played terrible but it was a beautiful day. Nearly had an albatross on 18 tho. Smoked my drive. 6 iron into the hole rain right by the cup.

On Tuesday night I almost eagled #14 at Highland Country Club. Its a Par 4 about 390 yards downhill with a lot of room but woods on the left. If you drive on 471 North and glance to your right you see the green and the long fairway. I crushed a nice 250 yrd drive down the left side of the fairway. About 140 yards out I grabbed an 8 iron and with the hole tucked in the back left corner of the green I flew one about 12 inches from the hole just missing an Eagle. Tap in Birdy was beautiful. Here is the pic of the divot I left and where the ball ended up.

If you head out to play at Kenton County Golf Course don't waste your money on the Willows, as it is in the worst shape ever. You either want to play for cheap on The Pioneer or my favorite Fox Run. Pioneer is in great shape as well as Fox Run.

That at Jenkins, which hole?

Played at Deer Run Country Club on the west side of Cincinnati yesterday and the course was in fantastic shape. Greens and fairways were in outstanding shape. Played it last year and came away very unimpressed but got a great deal on GolfNow and decided to give it another shot. It's a hike from Northern Kentucky but all in all was a good day at the course.

This may have already been discussed here, but I played Kincaid the other day ($7 to ride 9 thanks to golfnow!) and HOLY COW!! what a hilly course. I walk almost everywhere but knew better than to walk Kincaid, and I STILL wore myself out just walking to my ball from the cart path. Wow. Course is pretty well maintained, and definitely a challenge!

Deer Run used to be a private Country Club and I've played it at least 10 times. That said, I wouldn't play it again for free -- just too hilly, too many blind shots, and too many holes where you have balls flying around you. I'm glad to hear that it is in great shape, that hasn't always been the case.

 

If you are going to drive that far, go 5 minutes south and play Jack Nicklaus designed Aston Oaks. While equally hilly, a much better golf course, with great routing, and all the challenge you want.

I haven't played in nearly 3 weeks and am gonna chase the white rock with my dad tonight at one of the toughest courses in our area. Gotta say though, the 46degree Vokey wedge I bought and I are connected. Love that club.

Yeah it landed before the hole and then took a few skips right by the hole, almost caused me to lose my breath. It settled up about a putter length away, would have loved to have canned it though. It skipped right over the hole.

 

 

Those are the days golf is very enjoyable.

Best this old man has hit the ball all year. Shot 78 from the forward tees at Laurel Oaks this morning, including a chip-in eagle on #2.

46? What kind of distance are you using it for? Using it as Pitching Wedge?

That's what I was thinking. I use a 60 about 85% of the time around the greens. I love that thing. I was horrible with it at first but once you get the hang of it they are a life saver.
