June 30, 201214 yr I'm planning on bringing the Mrs. up to the Cincy/NKY metropolitan area for the weekend of the Boyle/Highlands game. I saw where there is a bedbug outbreak in Cincy hotels. What hotels are the infected hotels and which ones are the good ones? Common sense says the more expensive the hotel the better protected we should be. There will always be a few exceptions. Can any of my NKY/Cincy folks point me in the right direction as to which hotels I should look at/eliminate? We have stayed in downtown Cincy at the Hyatt and in Erlanger at the Wingate at Windham. I'm thinking Hyatt again. Is that a safe choice in you guys' best opinion? Help. I don't want to have to deal with bedbugs.
June 30, 201214 yr The Comfort Suites in Bellevue is fairly nice. Haven't been there in a few years but it's relatively new, very affordable, and right off of 471. Not sure if construction on 471 will be finished by then or not. If not, you probably want to look elsewhere.
June 30, 201214 yr Surprises me how travelers in general don't seem to take bedbugs more seriously. I only travel 20-40 nights a year, but am always conscious of bedbugs being an issue, even at higher end hotels. As for your question, a few suggestions: The Cincinnatian (city's best hotel hand's down), downtown Hyatt, Embassy Suites is great and their is one right on the river in Covington, there's a nearly new Hampton Inn right off 275 in Wilder (10 minutes from Highlands tops, and I've always had great luck with Hampton's), and a newer Spring Hill Suites in Florence at the Turfway exit (always had good dealing with Spring Hill and most Marriott properties in general).
June 30, 201214 yr The courtyard in florence is renavating...They are switching to the new standards courtyard designs that many allready have which is a sleek/modern design with lots of conveniencies for Business Travelers...New Beding/Couches and all new carpet and decorations cant be a bad thing... You should probably just get a penthouse at the Hyatt, Hilton or Millenium downtown...Im sure the penthouses have a good chance of being bed bug free
June 30, 201214 yr I believe there is a website that chronicles which hotels have had bed bugs. Bed Bug Registry - Check Apartments and Hotels Across North America
June 30, 201214 yr The hotel on the Newport Bellevue border close to Joes Crab Shack isnt bad. We had a bunch of family in from out of town for a funeral awhile back and they had no complaints about the place. They also enjoyed the fact they could walk to the levee for a day of fun. Get a river view room.

July 3, 201214 yr Looks like the Wildwood's on the list. Wonder which theme room? Better question is which room ISN'T on the list?
July 3, 201214 yr Better question is which room ISN'T on the list? I figure it might be isolated to some of the "wilder" rooms.
July 3, 201214 yr How do you inspect for bed bugs? They're little reddish-brown flat bugs. They look kinda like ticks, and they're most often found in the hems and seams at the edges and corners of mattresses, or in the pattern tufts of the mattresses. There will usually be black specs and stains that resemble black pepper in the areas that you'll find them...that is bed-bug excrement. Sometimes you can find them in the corners of wooden furniture (dressers/drawers/bedside stands) as well. It's a pretty easy find if you strip down the bed to the mattress and look in all the drawers when you first check into your room. I search EVERY time I go to a hotel.

Actually, what the post said is the best and only way to check a room.
