We stayed @ theHoliday Inn express out by the Airport on 275 last year. It was very nice and affordable, about $80 a night through one of the travel sites.

As of about 18 months or 2 years ago, Wilder Great Escape 14 is COVERED UP with them. I have to deal with exterminator contractors for the sake of putting down termite treatment under and around foundations at the beginning of most of my projects. I had two contractors in particular who have both said to my on their own accord, "By the way, stay the hell out of the Wilder cinemas if you like to go see movies in theaters."

 

Apparently Great Escape was trying to get an "easy fix" for the problem, but they kept ending up with exterminators who would tell them they needed to tear out all of the carpet in their auditoriums and strip all of the seating down to metal frames, fog the auditoriums for 4 days, and then replace all of the carpet/upholstery with new. That was too pricey for the theater, but the contractors who I spoke to wouldn't go for any other options because they "wouldn't put their guarantee on something that wouldn't work."

Basically, what CWB said. Actually, what the post said is the best and only way to check a room.

Honestly, unless you struggle with making a bed it should only take you all of like 7 or 8 minutes to do a fairly decent check over things and then get them back in order to sleep comfortably. All of those 7 or 8 minutes are well worth preventing one instance of bringing home bed bugs and having to treat my entire house and wardrobe - in my opinion it is, at least.

Sounds like a lot of work to me.

 

If that sounds like a lot of work, I guess the alternative is take your chances on dealing with them in your home someday.

I work in a field that caters to people very prone to bed bugs, as well as head lice and other assorted unpleasant things. Though I am very careful at work, and travel a lot, I am not as cautious when I travel. I should know better than anyone how important that is.

I've honestly only come across them once. I'm not a particularly regular hotel traveler though...I probably only stay in a hotel 2 or 3 times a year. I found them in a La Quinta down in Nashville 3 years ago. I called the desk, they gave me my pick of available rooms (which the hotel manager walked in and inspected for bedbugs with me). I went with a complimentary size upgrade as well. I checked in around 2:00pm, and by 6:00pm that evening, the manager called me to let me know that they had an exterminator at the hotel addressing the issue, and that their policy was to have the four most adjacent rooms to the infested one treated as well. I stopped off by the original room and verified it - one infested room, five rooms get treated as a result. It seemed to me like they were pretty serious about addressing the issue. I'd probably go back to the same La Quinta if I'm in Nashville again.

As I've said, never had a bad experience with a Marriott property. If I'm not mistaken the Rivercenter Marriott, is an Embassy Suites.

I don't think so. There is an Embassy Suites next door through.

What does a bedbug bite look like?

Our sons will no longer go to the Rave due to an incident last year with bugs crawling (not sure what they were). Someone I know took their grandchild in May and got bit and they were itching. The Levee is still ok - that's where we go to watch a movie.

Tricia Macke posted on Facebook last year a Rat ran over her foot at the Levee during a Movie. LOL
