June 29, 201214 yr Lesson to the kids...leave school when the getting is good PJ3, Barnes, Sullinger all could have been top 3-5 last year, Barnes didn't slip too bad but Sully at 21 and PJ3 at 29? Who would have saw that coming after last years college season?
June 29, 201214 yr I don't think any sophomore that would have gone lottery last year improved. All fell and some fell more than a little. On the flipside. Has to make me wonder where Brandon Knight would have been drafted had he stayed? But that opens up a huge mess of "what ifs".

How would staying another year help Sullinger, or Jones? Staying 3 years helps maybe 2 or 3 guys a year. It fact it would likely hurt more guys than it helps IMO.
June 29, 201214 yr My thoughts on the draft: Very happy for MKG at #2 but not sure how he will look with what is surrounding him. I'd like to see him on a "quality" type team, in which case I think he would thrive. As a UK fan, I still think Teague could have went much higher next year as everything I've read about the draft class for '13 isn't anything special. Several guys I don't know a lot about went fairly high in the draft, and I'm curious to see how they work out. The Blazers had 2 interesting selections and I wonder if they are being really smart or if it will backfire. White may have landed in a good spot as at least he can travel to the other Texas cities by bus and just skip the east coast games. (kdding)

(kdding) I just read in SI that the Heat told White that if they drafted him they wouldn't allow him to make the 4 hour Drive to games in Orlando, he would have to travel with the team...
June 29, 201214 yr Could it be worth it for some to fall into a winning situation where their chances of succeeding are increased...Some guys might fail on a team with hardly any talent surround them, but if they go to a team with help it makes them look much better and increases their chances of sticking in league long term and getting a big contract in the future...I think PJ3 fell into a good spot where a lot of his weaknesses may get covered up due to the talent surrounding him... I think a lot of times the guys later in the 1st Round have an advantage that guys that go earlier sometimes don't have...I know Rondo was drafted by the Suns and traded to the Celtics but I don't think he would've became the player he is if he didn't go to Boston surrounded by all that talent and he is my favorite player in the NBA...The year Rondo went 21st guys like Adam Morrison, Tyrus Thomas, Sheldon Williams, Patrick O'Bryant, JJ Redick, Hilton Armstrong, Rodney Carney and Quincy Douby went ahead of him and never have done much at all and most have almost completely flamed out... Sometimes it may be more beneficial for a player to enter the league with a winning team with guys that you can learn from and being surrounded by guys that can mask your weaknesses...

I'd say your map their would support my theory. :ylsuper:
June 29, 201214 yr I think at this point it would be hard for a UK fan to not have at least some interest in the NBA. If Wikipedia is correct, assuming that all of last nights draft picks make a roster, than UK currently has 23 players from the school (including Kanter) on an NBA roster. 18 of the 30 NBA teams have at least one player from UK. Considering UK's NBA representation just a few years ago, this is rather amazing.
