I've said it before and I'll say it again. As soon as someone points out flaws in your logic or disagrees with you you immediately go to labeling. It reflects poorly on you and takes away from the board.

The problem with your "spirit of the law" logic is that judges in Florida have already used the self-defense/SYG in pre-trial motions to drop murder charges.

 

You keep pointing out how well Trayvon did with his hands. You've mentioned in numerous times. His pugilistic skills could aid the defense. Kid was so good at throwing hands that Zimmerman felt he was about to be killed.

No one on here has given any indication that this young man's life is debatable or expendable or worth less than any other. Everything you ask and list is a factor in regards to the public's fascination/interest.

 

White on white probably doesn't make the news.

 

Age is a big factor in the interest level.

 

The fact the Zimmerman wasn't initially arrested and it took a month before anyone found out is a big factor.

These simple facts are why I believe in my average Joe Schmo mentality that Zimmerman is guilty of murder. Until evidence comes out in the court of law to convince me otherwise...this is my story and I am sticking to it.

 

In my opinion based on the facts stated by 75 I think he's guilty of manslaughter, he did take that young mans life and there is no disputing that. Based off what I've heard, read etc I don't think he set out to kill him but unfortunately things escelated and that was ultimately the end result. It could have been avoided, IMO he didn't break any laws by not avoiding it but that stil doesn't change the ultimate out come. It's tough, one life was taken(lost) and another one was ruined, regardless of what happens in this case no one wins.

Nobody cares about black on black killings. A black person was just shot by another black person right now. Life goes on.

 

If a black man was a neighborhood watch wannabe cop that shot and killed an unarmed white 17 year old kid who looked similar to the suspects of a group of white kids who have been breaking into homes in the neighborhood the black man would have been in jail since day one with murder one charges even if the white kid was on top of the screaming black man pounding his head into the pavement 'MMA style'. To believe otherwise displays your naïveté to race relations in this nation.

 

It would make a huge difference if Trayvon was 25.

If that were true then the black man that shot the unarmed white man in AZ wouldn't be walking free. Show me any evidence to back up the claim that if the race roles were reversed Zimmerman would have been arrested and charged day one.
