Ordered my humidor/sampler/Ghurka sampler on Tuesday and it's scheduled for delivery on Saturday.

I ordered this nice package deal and will be here on Saturday. What do i need to do to set up the humidor properly?

You can google "humidor set up" and find a bunch of tutorials. What I would do is buy a few 84% Boveda Humistat packs. You throw em in the box, keep it shut for two weeks and it's ready to go. You then just pick up a couple 69% Rh packs ( the tobacco /liquor store in Crescent Springs has them) to maintain the RH. The packs last for two to three months and cost $3.99 each. Makes humidor maintenance so much easier then adding distilled H2O all the time.

Dang, I was just about to ask you how you liked them. Did they give an estimate?

That was one heck of a deal on those, and they are very popular to begin with.

Big night Wednesday night..no kids, no wife, Marty and Thom on radio, catching up on my Sports Illustrated's, poolside with a smoke...very peaceful

Nope just says ships when available. I knew it might take a while I was just hoping it would be a little faster.

Mine got delivered today!! Now to get it all set up and head to party source to look at cigars (granted i have no clue what i am looking at)

Not a big cigar smoker but I just ordered this. I might have 2 cigars a year and they aren't of any quality either. Just figured why not.

Same here, mine came in the mail yesterday. I figured for that good of a price why not.

Mine is due tomorrow.

Had the Torano Noventa tonight out of this sampler. Lot of spice, mostly pepper, hint of nutmeg, and earthy. Somewhat different than most Torano's I've had. Filler fairly strong but wrapper was very mild on the lips. Which IMO made it lack body. This is a medium+. I didn't dislike it, it was just ok.

On the positive side. It smoked flawlessly. Perfect draw and burn. So the craftsmanship was excellent like most Torano's I've had.

Would like to here other's opinions on the various cigars in this deal, even if it's as simple as "I liked it" or "I didn't like it". Helps in the future if folks ask for recomendations.

I'm not happy with myself. I don't know what I did or how it's all gone wrong, but I think I screwed up setting up the humidor. I calibrated everything and thought everything was all right, but the wrappers on the Padilla and the Gurkha cracked and tore open... completely ruined. Rats.

Note to everybody. Leave your cigars in the pouch that they come in until you are sure your humidor is set and ready. It will actually steal moisture from your cigars if it isn't ready.

The Gurkha triple ligero is typically very fragile but not the Padilla so I'm a bit surprised at that one. Your cigars are probably not ruined, but sounds like they definitely need a some help. Sit a shot glass (or 2) of distilled water in the humidor with the cigars in it. Leave it sit for at least a week to 10 days before doing anything. This should revive the wood first, then the cigars. I know it sucks, but you'll have to be patient.

I recommend using a bullet cutter, but you can't just press it in. You have to slowly twist it in. If you do it right, even on a dry cigar you won't break the cap.

I have one of these on every key chain. $2.49 - $2.99 at Liquor Barn or Party Source.
