Same Sex Couple Denied Entry into Lexington Catholic Prom

Featured Replies

I don't think I have seen such unanimity in a "controversial issue" forum thread. Whats happening?

Because it's a catholic school. You have to obey the doctrine of your school. Now if this were a public school, then you would have a variety of opinions.

Sounds like we're all on the same page on this one.
Pretty much. If it was a public school I would have issues with it.

But, I don't think these two girls thought it was going to go over so the shock value isn't there. I do not see what they did being wrong either, the attention on them wasn't bad, just shed light on an issue, and glad to see some of their friends deciding to miss prom and hang out side with them instead, true friends they have there!

We do all seem to be on the same page.

It definitely seems like an attention grabbing ploy to me. They could have gone stag and had a good time. School rules are school rules. Especially at a Catholic school.

I am shocked this made the news. I mean really it is a private Catholic school.

I just saw a promo for the next investigative report on Lex18.com, apparently the Pope IS Catholic!! And they will prove it...

Well, I guess Thamel isn't leading this investigation, you said the words "They will prove it", lol

For this private, Catholic school, I support their decision. Were this to be a public school, I would not.

I'm not sure that I believe that it was all about the shock value or "stirring the pot," as some of you all feel. It may have been, but I don't see evidence of it from this article.

Thank God neither one was wearing anything made from a confederate flag!

BUT, were either one wearing pink?

Was this dance last night? If so, I saw a group of girls out eating together at Saul Good. No guys present and I assume none joined them before the dance. How did the school differentiate between those girls and the two homosexual girls? My guess is the latter made it a point that they were a couple, which is unnecessary.

Private or public school, it's the right decision IMO.

Private school. No issue for me.

Private school. They new the school's beliefs when they signed up to go there. Zero issue with the decision.

I can see a day in the future, nearer than farther, that this is not true.

We already see issues where this is unraveling. Wasn't Catholic employers not providing health insurance coverage for contraceptives a huge debate just a few months ago?

Still is a debate and it is bogus. How the President is trying to push this through is just stupid. He lost my vote over a myriad of things, this is just another shovel of dirt to bury it
