April 30, 201214 yr I'm sure that everyone has some. I'm not talking about music you listen to all time, as we all have our own individual favorites. I'm talking about an artist that maybe your best friends don't even know you like/listen to...or you're too ashamed to admit it publicly. I feel fairly safe in the anonymity here on BGP to be able to admit mine...the Carpenters. Can't beat listening to Karen Carpenter's voice through a set of headphones. Has such a richness and fullness that many of today's pop-tarts just don't have. Anybody else want to admit theirs?
April 30, 201214 yr I'm going to win this one running away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tC_VSjBDOz0
April 30, 201214 yr If I listen to it I don't really feel guilty about it, but Lady Gaga is on the ipod.
April 30, 201214 yr LMFAO....no...that's not what I'm doing....It's my musical guilty pleasure. For the record, Enya, ABBA, and Lady Gaga are NOT anything to be ashamed of.
May 1, 201214 yr The soundtrack to Valley Girl. "I Melt With You", "A Million Miles Away" and several others. Celtic music. Not just the old hands like The Chieftains (who we saw at the Aronoff several years ago), but also relative unknowns like Roger Drawdey and the Firestarters, La Vent du Nord, The Tannahill Weavers, etc. Lots of bluegrass; Nickel Creek, Del McCroury, Alison (the voice of an angel) Krauss & Union Station, etc. A couple of my favorite CDs are combinations of Celtic and Bluegrass (The Chieftains "Down the Old Plank Road" sets). Broadway musicals. I probably have 100 on vinyl; some are different versions/casts of the same show. Some of the songwriting is extraordinarily clever. Fleetwood Mac.
