Bryce Harper to make ML Debut

Featured Replies

I thought he was a catcher?

They converted him to be an outfielder so that he would have better longevity.

Hamel hit him in his 1st PA tonite. He got to third and then stole home.

2/3 off of Hamels. Stole home. Hustle double on a ball that went just to the outfield grass. Diving catch with bases loaded with the Nats down 2 late.

Hamels said he was trying to hit him.

 Why?

He is going to be a very special player IMO. Kid stole home tonight and hit a 120 foot double. Remember he has less than 600 professional AB's and is only 19 years old. Unreal bat speed, electric speed, cannon arm and goes 100% every play and every AB. I love watching him play. The Nationals have put together a great team in a very short time and are setup great for the next 5-10 years.

He is what baseball needs. I want to watch the Nationals play. When has anyone outside of DC ever said that?

Strausburg two seasons ago. Remember the hysteria!

If they not treat Strausburg like a porcelain doll, the Nats will be must watch tv for years to come.

I'm ready to see the reactions when the Nats shut him down after 160 IP this year...

Especially if they are in the playoff hunt. Should be interesting.

Zero chance this goes unnoticed and without punishment from the league.

So in short he will be punished for being honest. Every person knew it was intentional. I am fine with the punishment.

I'm with you PP92. It's exciting.

Rookie of the year? I know its early for all that, but I'd think he has a great shot.

Mike Rizzo wasn't very happy. Called Hamels "fake tough".

Mike Rizzo calls Cole Hamels ‘fake tough,’ calls for suspension after ‘classless, gutless’ act - Nationals Journal - The Washington Post

Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo responded to Cole Hamels’ admission he drilled Bryce Harper on purpose last night in harsh terms, saying MLB should suspend Hamels and calling out Hamels as “fake tough.”

“Players take care of themselves,” Rizzo said after I called him this morning. “I’ve never seen a more classless, gutless chicken [bleep] act in my 30 years in baseball.
