So I go to a birthday party yesterday...

If the kid was under 18, trust me, he doesn't care if it said "Sorry for your loss", as long as when he opened it up smiling back at him was Andrew Jackson.

In all seriousness did they mention it as being a joke at any point?

Not at all, I think she was embarrassed because the minute we busted out laughing she looked right at us with that guilty look on her face and pretty much her point was Lawnboy's point.

Someone gave me a birthday card with it crossed out as my wedding gift.

I wish a hole would open up and swallow the entire greeting card industry. Biggest waste of money and time ever.

Birthday card I got last month was $4, what a joke. I guess the joke is on me really.

Maybe they were thinking about Earth Day, and just wanted to do their part to recycle?

I wish my wife felt the way. She is the type that never forgets a card. I see no point in getting a card for a one year olds' birthday.

As long as there is money or a gift inside, I wouldn't care.

My wife is the same way.

In a rush one night I grabbed a card for my anniversary and my wife said awwwwww thanks honey but look. It was a busy looking card and it said To the Man I Love, Happy Anniversary. I couldn't help but laugh my rear off. Thankfullly she chalked it up as a typical male last minute mistake.

Or maybe some "deep seeded issue" you're not telling us.

Well, at least they got it to him. True story...last fall I went to PepRock's wedding. I had (have) an awesome gift for them, but didn't have a gift bag or card. So, I set out for the wedding and stopped to get a bag/card. I got those, proceeded to the venue, intending to put the present in the bag once I got to the parking garage. I arrive at the parking garage only to find that I left the actual present at home. PepRock...I still have your wedding present...your first anniversary is coming up...maybe you'll get it by then.

I actually make it a point with a few friends of mine to do cards this way for birthdays. I like getting the reeeeeeally sappy, overdramatic "I'm so terribly sorry for your loss...words cannot express...you have my sincerest condolences" cards, and then crossing the words out and writing in "Happy birthday you fat, balding jackwagon." 50 points if you can find a good Kwanzaa card to use for a birthday!

Now THAT is comedy.

Maybe I'm a bad friend but I do not get my friends ANY cards for their birthdays. If they're around I'll buy them a beer...

I got a case of motor oil from one of my good friends as a wedding gift. Of course inside he hid some $$$. I thought it was pretty funny, the wife didn't...

You should've gone ahead and given them the bag anyway.
