They won a lower bracket. Didn't get to see them, but heard Shane Hall was really good...

Thanks! How much do I owe you for that now?

Sheldon Clark star showing out in EYBL

“It’s been a lot of fun for me,” said the 6-7 Johnson, who is playing up an age level with the Tennessee Travelers in the Nike EYBL event.

Johnson had 14 rebounds in the opening game of the EYBL on Friday night and then on Saturday night had eight points and eight rebounds in an outing.

Lexington Catholic’s Jack Whitman, who has 12 offers, posted his second double-double of the event. He had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Tennessee freshman Andrew Fleming added 13, while Trinity’s Miles Rice finished with eight points and four assists as the Tennessee Travelers beat the King James All-Stars in double overtime. Whitman took a blow to the head in a loose-ball play and missed the night cap, a loss to Mo-Kan Elite. Sheldon Clark’s Justin Johnson had eight points and eight rebounds in the loss to the Mo-Kan All-Stars.

I think that KBA is for any one that can field a team, all star teams etc, I thought there was one for high school teams only in June?

Yes, the May tourney us for club teams and the June tourney us for HS teams.

The Pitt tournament ended up having a gold, silver, bronze, steel A, and steel B bracket. Hoop Dreams 16U lost the very first game of the tournament which knocked them out of contention and placed them in the steel B bracket. They won that 16 team bracket. There were 64 teams in the tournament.

Several local teams had some success over the weekend. The Hoop Dreams team, led by Johnson Central’s Shane Hall (photo) won the Silver Division of the 16U tournament in the HoopGroup’s Pittsburgh JamFest.

The 6-foot-8 Hall, considered one of the best sophomores in the state of Kentucky, reportedly had a big-time showing at the JamFest. I would expect he would land a few offers this week from Division I schools.

In the Eddie Ford Spring Classic #1, the BA Hoyas won the bronze division of the 17U with wins over Higher Level Basketball and Cincy Team One in the championship game.

Bullitt East junior Rusty Troutman led the way in every game this weekend, scoring 17 in the title game after going for 23 in the semifinal.

Trinity’s Sam Strothman had 14 in the final, while Bullitt East’s Trey Rakes had 12 points and five assists.
